JACK BOYLE | AVALON ’20
Boyle was one of the top unsigned seniors we saw yesterday. At 6-foot-5, he can cause matchup problems with his ability to face up and attack the basket off the bounce. Boyle also competed defensively where he recorded several deflections and attacked the boards.
RYAN CORNISH | SIDWELL FRIENDS ’21
Cornish shot the ball well in his team’s win over Sandy Spring but also showed good patience and playmaking skills. He was active defensively, solid at the point of attack and active on the glass. One thing that stood out about Cornish’s performance was how well he sells shot fakes. You have to honor his shot so it makes him that much more difficult to defend when he fakes as demonstratively as he does.
DT HAMILTON | CHAPELGATE ’21
Hamilton was a standout as a result of his effort and defensive prowess. The long-armed junior guard has a nose for the ball, reacts quickly and is fearless when fighting for 50/50’s.
MICHAEL KATSOCK | ST. ALBANS ’20
Katsock did not have a great start to this game. His shot wasn’t falling and his first-half minutes were limited due to foul trouble. This did not stop Katsock from making an impact on the game. He was the loudest player on the bench when cheering for his teammates and once he got back on the floor in the second half his shots began to fall. Katsock also played solid defense and rebounded well in his area.
MATTHEW MALONE | GRACE BRETHREN ’22
Malone showcased a high motor throughout his team’s win on Thursday. He has good length with which he was disruptive on the defensive end, racking up deflections and steals. Malone was relentless on the boards. He filled the lanes in transition and played off two feet around the basket. Malone still has a ways to go in terms of developing his skill set but there is a lot to like about his potential moving forward.
GEORGE PERKINS | SIDWELL FRIENDS ’22
Perkins had a solid all-around performance for Sidwell as they improved to 7-0. He is always available for dump-offs and is a crafty finisher around the basket. Perkins showed good vision with the ball in his hands and unselfishly set up his teammates for easy buckets. At 6’8, he moves well laterally on the defensive end which helps him hedge screens and allows him to switch onto guards. Perkins still has to develop that killer instinct when attacking the basket but that will likely come as he continues to mature.
RASHARD RAY | FRIENDSHIP COLLEGIATE ’20
Ray quietly played well for his team despite their opening-round loss to Grace Brethren. He was all over the boards and showed nice touch inside of 15 feet on the offensive end. Ray was also a vocal presence on the floor.
KENNETH RILEY | SEED ’20
Riley stood out on both ends of the floor. He was active defensively, recording deflections and attacking the glass. Riley was best in transition on the offensive end where he looked to get downhill and finished around the rim with touch. He also showed that he can step out and knock down the three-ball with his feet set.
ANTHONY SIMMONS | SEED ’20
Simmons is a left-handed wing who can stretch the floor from three or secure a rebound on the defensive end and initiate a fast break. He has good ball skills and competes defensively but will have to prove that he can consistently finish through contact.
MOHAMED TOURE | SANDY SPRING ’21
Toure hit some tough shots against a good defensive team in Sidwell. At 6-foot-6, he can put the ball on the floor and has a quick first step which helps him penetrate the defense. Toure has a ton of defensive potential. He can be disruptive around the basket with his length and is very good at shooting the gaps off the ball. We’d like to see him hit the boards a little harder next time out.
