The Burlington County Scholastic League was extremely competitive last season. The conference had many teams finish with a lot of wins and plenty of teams were in contention for their division. This will not change in 2019-2020. Here are some of the dark horse teams that ca take a big step in the upcoming season.
Cinnaminson
This was an 18-10 team last season. Cinnaminson went through a stretch in the middle of the season where they won 11 of 12 games. Their issue came in division play. Cinnaminson finished third in the Freedome division but they were just 1-3 against the top two teams, Burlington City and Bordentown. This season, they will take the next step in defeating the top teams and finding their way to the top of the division.
Trenton Catholic
Trenton Catholic is ready for big things this season. They finished 16-10 a season ago and tied atop their division at 7-1 with Moorestown. They have players who are another year older and ready to take over the BCSL. Jamir Watkins has the ability to be a top 10 player in the state this season. He will be joined by fellow senior E.J. Evans. Trenton Catholic has a good group of young players as well but Watkins and Evans will lead the squad wherever they go.
Northern Burlington
This may be the ultimate dark horse in the conference. Northern Burlington was 12-14 last season with a 4-4 record in division play. They took advantage of the lesser teams in the BCSL like they should. Northern Burlington even picked up a statement win over Burlington City who won 22 games in 2018. They can take the next step this season towards .500 overall and in the division.
Delran
The Freedom division had three teams finish with 18 or more wins last season. Delran was one of them but they were just fourth in division play at 2-6. These records do not add up and this season, they will even out. Delran has expectations of being a 20 win teams and improving their division and conference record this season.
