Continue ReadingThe Arvest Classic wrapped up Saturday from Parkview High School in Springfield, MO with Kickapoo emerging as this year’s champion after an 82-66 win over Raytown in the title game. Helias was the winner of the 3rd place game over Lafayette and host school Parkview won the consolation bracket, knocking off Newcastle (OK). Here is a list of some of the top slashers from the event:
- 6’2 Jr Anton Brookshire (Kickapoo) showed off superb handles and elite change of pace. He could blow by a defender and get to the rim any time he wanted to.
- 6’4 Sr Kalub Hunt (Newcastle) knows how to use his length and crafty ball skills to get to and finish at the rim
- 6’2 Sr Dontae Taylor (Parkview) can break his man down, split defenders, and is an excellent decision maker in the paint. He can score it or dime it with the best in the state in the paint.
- 6’1 Sr Cortez Howlett (Raytown) is electric with the ball. He is extremely fast and and has the ball on a string with a lethal crossover. He was very impressive all weekend.
- 6’2 So Isaiah Releford (Fayetteville) is a youngster to keep an eye on. Loves to go coast to coast in transition. Gets in lane and can finish at the rim or pull-up on a dime.
- 6’2 Sr Marus Anthony (Helias) physical straight-line driver who was able to use his strength to force his way into the paint. When Helias needed a bucket, they turned to him on the drive.
- 6’2 Jr Cameron Liggans (Kickapoo) is an impressive athlete with a quick first step, and when he gets in the lane he can elevate with anyone to get a quality look
