Skyline jumps up to the #1 spot in this weeks power ranking update. Skyline’s only “loss” comes from forfeit from their brawl against Cesar Chavez. Skyline’s last 3 games have been all blow outs! They have beaten teams such as Cesar Chavez, Buckeye, Sunrise Mountain, and South Mountain. Looking at their schedule going forward, I don’t really see any teams that would give Skyline a run for their money. I think Skyline could win out the rest of the season.
Key Players:
Dayton Harris 6’2 2020 G
Dominic Capriotti 6’4 2022 G
Tanner Poeschl 6’6 2020 F
Patrick Herrera 6’1 2021 G
#2 Desert Vista 8-1
Desert Vista drops to #2 in this week’s update. The reason is because Desert Vista lost to Boulder Creek 56-53. While Skyline has technically lost a game as well, I consider DV’s loss as a “real loss”. This is why you see them drop to the #2 spot.
Key Players:
Osasere Ighodaro 6’10 2020 F
Desean Lecque 6’0 2022 G
Andrew King 6’2 2022 G
#3 Chandler 9-2
Chandler comes in at the #3 spot in this week’s update. Chandler has been playing very well to start the season. I am very curious to see how the resurgence of Isiah Broady goes. Broady is a D1 talent, who is super long and can get a bucket at any minute. His incorporation with the team could take them to new heights!
Key Players:
Carson Kelly 5’9 2021 G
Mekhi Mason 6’2 2022 G
Nick Reily 6’8 2021 F
#4 Desert Ridge 8-2
These next two spots are virtually interchangeable. Desert Ridge beat Perry earlier in the season, but Perry got revenge, beating Desert Ridge later on. With the teams splitting their series, it is hard to judge who gets the upper hand in the rankings. I decided to give Desert Ridge the edge, purely based off of record.
Key Players:
Joe Kelsey 5’10 2021 G
Matt Haltorp 5’9 2021 G
Kaden Kennedy 6’3 2021 F
#5 Perry 7-2
As mentioned before, I found it very hard to rank the #4 and #5 teams, as they are almost interchangeable. Perry comes in at the #5 spot, for now, since Desert Ridge has one more win than they do. However, I expect Perry to overtake that spot here very soon.
Key Players:
Dylan Anderson 6’11 2022 F
Cody Williams 6’2 2023 G
Duke Brennan 6’9 2021 F
