5: Highlands Ranch
Highlands Ranch is a team I liked before the season and is not someone to sleep on. They are 3-0 and beat a very good Smoky Hill team. This team is being lead by seniors Ryker Cisarik and Tristan Hurdle who have good height, athleticism, and shooting. In two of their three games they both dropped over twenty points, this is duo that is not to be messed with. They also have a very good point guard in Yafet Mesfin who has good height at point and uses it to take advantage of smaller matchups. With a proving win against Smoky Hill I believe they deserve a top 5 ranking.
4: Mountain Vista
Mountain Vista is coming off of a big year last year making an appearance in the final four. This team is extremely well coached and will out run countless teams. After loosing quite a few seniors there are new guys stepping up. One of those guys is Reece Kelly who is a knockdown shooter, who is averaging 18 points after the first two games. This a team where they may not have one “go to” guy, because any night anyone could go off for 20. They already have had four different players drop 15 or more points in the first two games.
3: Grandview
Grandview started off the season going 1-1 which is not telling of how good this team is. They beat a solid Doherty team and lost to the former champions Rangeview in a close fought game. This team is being lead by the two remaining starters from last year in Caleb McGill and Lian Ramiro both of which are going to play basketball at the college level. This Grandview team likes slowing the pace down and playing good defense, they will rarely run up the scoring column but neither will their opponents. This is a solid team, watch out for them.
2: Overland
Overland had a good week despite two of there best players not being completely healthy, they won both of there games against very good teams. Graham Ike went down in the game against Thunderridge but the team still went on to get the win. With Hezekiah Swanson making his return after being injured the whole summer he is still getting his legs underneath him. The transfer Vincas Veikalas has made a huge difference in this team helping them get their first two wins. This team has proved how deep they are this first week and why they were ranked so highly coming into the season.
1: Rangeview
On top again, here they are the Rangeview Raiders, this year they are coming out strong looking to defend there title. This team started off their season winning their only game of the week against the proven Grandview team. Leading the team are the talented Speller twins. Christian Speller recently signed to play at Metro State University. Christopher Speller has started off the season playing more assertive and is a super smart point guard who has a good feel for the game. One of the reasons this team is so good is because of the chemistry that this deep roster has. With multiple returning players from last year watch out for this team to potentially repeat there championship run.
