5. Highlands Ranch
Highlands Ranch started off the first two weeks undefeated. They have a top win against Smoky Hill but have not had other strong match ups. This week the team, led by Ryker Cisark and Tristan Hurdle, take on Columbine. Then they will travel up North and participate in the Power to Play tournament which includes some Wyoming teams, Fossil Ridge, Horizon, and Golden. It will interesting to see if this team is consistent against better match ups.
4. Smoky Hill
Smoky Hill is coming off of a very good week winning the Chaparral/ThunderRidge tournament. Also, they started the week with an exhilarating win against the talented George Washington team. So far Jalen Weaver is playing like one of the best players in 5A, averaging 20 points per game. This week they have don’t have any very challenging match ups to look out for, but are definitely a team that deserves to be at the top.
3. Eaglecrest
Eaglecrest is undefeated in-state and went down to New Mexico and won 2 out of 3 games. This team is very talented and looks ready to take over in Colorado. Still leading the team is Zion Ruckard averaging 17.5 points, 5.8 assist, and 5.5 rebounds per game. They have a big match up on Tuesday against Fairview which should be a great game.
2. Grandview
The 2017-2018 champions are coming out strong this year. They are being led by the two starters from the championship squad, Lian Ramiro and Caleb McGill. The only loss they have is against the number one team Rangeview, they have yet to have any other huge match ups but are going out of state this week to play in the Tarkin Classic tournament.
1. Rangeview
Rangeview is still up top, the 2018-2019 champions are back and strong. They have a balance of talent and chemistry that many teams can not obtain. They will also be traveling out of town this week to play in the Tarkin Classic, then after the break facing up against Columbine. There is not much to say, that hasn’t already been said about this team!
