10. Boulder
Boulder is coming off a hot week beating Cherry Creek and Mountain Vista. Beating both of these teams is very impressive and Cherry Creek had their star football players back as well. This Boulder squad plays very much as a team not having a main scorer. Down low they are being led by CU Boulder’s basketball coach’s son Pete Boyle. At 6’8 he has good size and can stretch the floor on the offensive end. Their next is after the break against ThunderRidge, it will interesting to see if they can keep the winning streak going.
9. Mountain Vista
Mountain Vista has had a good showing so far, only losing to Boulder. Without a super strong schedule so far this season they have dropped down to the nine spot but are definitely a good team. This is a team who is coached very well and is looking to come out strong this upcoming week at the Cherry Creek holiday tournament.
8. Fairview
So far this year their only loss has come to the highly ranked Overland team. Fairview has beaten some very good teams in Horizon, Ralston Valley, and Chaparral. This team is being led in scoring by junior Greyson Carter who is averaging 15.8 points per game. In addition, they have the veteran big in Jalen Page who is averaging 12.8 points. This week will be telling in where they should rank, as they play Eaglecrest on Tuesday and then play in Cherry Creek’s holiday tournament.
7. Overland
Overland was ranked very highly in the preseason but with health being a question for their star Graham Ike it is tough to rank them. This week they took their first loss to Columbine. This team will surely bounce back when Graham is back and healthy.
6. Denver East
Denver East is an interesting team this year, they are still undefeated but have not played any top teams. Their strength of schedule is what is keeping them out of the top five. This week they play against a good Palmer team from Colorado Springs on Friday and a strong Mullen team on Saturday.
