George Washington
George is who I would currently rank at the 11 spot. They are one of the most talented teams in the state. Last night they had a good showing against top 10 team Smoky Hill, the big reason they lost this game was because foul trouble towards the end of the game which allowed Smoky to run away with the game. George has three Junior wings who are looking to lead this team victory. First being Kendale Johnson last years leading scorer who brings great energy to his team. Then Eddie McPhee who is a good athlete and has great court vision to find open teammates. Last but not least Jarmell “JJ” Johnson who is one of the best athletes in the state who can start fast-breaks for his team. All in all this an exciting who is a must look out for this year.
Horizon
Horizon is coming off of a hot start winning their first 4 games. This is a young team that has a lot of potential, eight of their varsity players are sophomores. They have sophomore point guard Xavier Harris leading the team, this season he is averaging 15.3 points per game. Then they have big man Brock Wisne who can play down low and stretch the floor. Watch out for this young team to make some noise this year and years after, tomorrow they have a big match-up against a tough Fairview team.
Thunderridge
Thunderridge is coming off loosing their first two games but both of them were against top 10 teams. This week they are looking to bounce back in the Thunderridge and Chaparral Tip Off Classic Tournament. This team is very talented but have some crucial injuries with Zach Keller, Chris Franquemont, and JJ Williams all missing the first week. Without these guys they still some very good talent. Leading the team currently is Nolan Marnold who uses his size dominate down low. Right now he is averaging 20.5 points, 7 rebounds, and 4.5 blocks. Watch out for this young team to improve throughout the year.
