Anthony HuffPlayer of the Game: Anthony Huff (2020) – Lower Richland HS
Huff finished the evening with 22 points for the Diamond Hornets. Huff has great length and was able to connect on some midrange jumpers along with extending it out to the 3 point line. Huff was a big spark for the Diamond Hornets in the road win.
Korey RichardsonBest Player on the Court: Korey Richardson (2021) – Lower Richland HS (pictured on front)
Richardson a left-handed guard really sees the floor well and makes sure his teammates are in the right position to receive the ball. Richardson scored 12 points in the win was always around the ball to make plays and it seemed like he never left the floor. Richardson defended Case Roach for the most part while he was on the floor and really created problems.
Slow start to the Game:
Case RoachThe Devildogs never could get things going against the quicker Diamond Hornets. The Devildogs fell into a hole on the scoreboard and Sam Brown plus Case Roach both got into foul trouble. The Devildogs battled to the final buzzer and left it all out on the floor just to come up a bit short.
Derrick FieldsUnsung Talents: Derrick Fields (2020) – Travelers Rest HS – Dajon Townsend (2021) – Lower Richland HS
Fields has been a fixture on this squad with Brown and Roach since their freshman season. Fields brings a constant effort just like the Roach and Brown to the floor. These kids play the game way it should be and that’s extremely hard.
Townsend a guard plays in the shadows of Richardson and Quenton Flood here for the Diamond Hornets. Townsend came up with some clutch baskets and made some big defensive plays to secure the win. Townsend finished the night with 13 points.
Down the Road:
Expect to see these 2 schools to make good runs in a LOADED CLASS 4A CLASS this season. Both of these programs are well coached and play the game to every whistle extremely hard.
