Strawther showed off why he is one of the most electric scorers in the country. He made threes from NBA range, finished at the rim, and got to the line consistently simply by keeping the pressure on the defense. He was the largest player on the floor most of the game, and at times his size and strength simply overwhelmed the opposition.
(2) IS JOSHUA JEFFERSON THE BEST LOW POST SCORER IN THE STATE?
The rising C/O 2022 stud displayed soft touch and nimble feet. He showed that all summer, but perhaps what was the most impressive thing about his play, was his patience and his ability to finish plays with either hand. In an era when the back to the basket big man has all but disappeared, he proved that you can still get production out of direct post-ups.
(3) WHAT LEVEL PROSPECT IS KOBE STROUGHTER?
There were times during the game that Stroughter looked like the best player on the floor. His explosion and ability to finish through contact was terrific, and even though he didn’t shoot it great, his knockdown shooting is always a factor. The biggest question surrounding him is what position he is, however, he clearly has the skills to be a scholarship player of some level.
(4) IS THERE A TOUGHER COMBINATION THAN DAVID MOORE AND LARRY HOLMES?
In case I forgot to mention, Arbor View won the game. The played without one of their best players and their most important post presence in Jaylon Lee. They were able to accomplish this in part due to the competitive spirit, grit, and effort of seniors David Moore and Larry Holmes. Moore battled all night playing the role of undersized post against two of the better 6’6 players in the state. Holmes defended every position and seemed to live on the floor. The two of them scraped for everything and refused to let the Aggies give up. Their ability to rebound and defend is going to keep them in games throughout the season.
(5) HOW DID ARBOR VIEW WIN THE GAME?
The Aggies trailed for the majority of the way, including being down as much as 20 late in the second half. However, because of the relentless effort of the aforementioned Holmes and Moore, and the scoring of UNLV commit Donavan Yap, they were able to claw their way back into the game. Yap was virtually unstable in the 2nd half as he finished with 22 in the half and 39 for the game. They also got timely shooting from senior Noah Do, who sent the game into overtime with a late 3. The Aggies have 9 seniors on the roster, and it was their experience and leadership that allowed them to play through adversity and ultimately come away with a victory.
