Yes. I’m a huge fan of guys that can carry teams. Clark has a championship pedigree, however, no team can be expected to be the same after losing two D1 players and their head coach. Kimble however, has made that transition a lot easier. He’s a natural scorer that can get his shot off whenever he wants. Kimble has also added playmaking to his skill – set. As the season goes on, if Clark is anywhere close to what they were last year, I expect Kimble to be an obvious POY candidate.
(2) What Is The Ceiling For Durango?
Durango has one of the best backcourts in the State. Between Sam Johnson, Kendrick Gilbert and Tyson Guild, they have terrific interior depth, and they have outside shooting. They are led by one of the best coaches in the state, and they take the floor expecting to win every game they play. This team will be a tough out for every opponent and has the talent to make a run in the playoffs.
(3) How Many D1 Prospects Were On The Floor Tonight?
I’ll go with 7 total. Anthony Hunter, Keshon Gilbert, Cam Kimble, Sebastian Mack, and Sterling Knox are all clear cut D1 players. Tyson White and Kendrick Gilbert also may have the opportunity to play at a D1 level.
(4) Is There A Better Glue Guy Than Kendrick Gilbert?
No. I’m almost to the point where I won’t hear any other opinion on this subject. Gilbert is an eraser, that makes up for any team errors. He’ll finish down low, defend 1 through 5, and earn extra possessions with his relentless offensive rebounding. What he does may not always show up in the stat sheet, however, without his contributions Durango isn’t 4-0.
(5) Who Does Sebastian Mack Remind You Of?
Lou Williams. 30 years from now Mack will probably be putting up 50 a night in some rec league. He is a professional scorer that loves to compete. A lethal shooter, he has the ability to put up points in seconds. Mack did not play his best game tonight, but he never lost confidence and made a huge 3 late in the game. He has a great first step and is already an advanced finisher in transition. He may have to put his rec league success on hold for a while because I have a feeling he might have bigger things on the horizon.
