Prep Hoops Colorado has done our best to get out to as many games as we can and have seen plenty of these players this season. Here, we focus on some of the top scorers in the state. Javonte Johnson – Cheyenne Mountain
The top scorer in 4A as a junior is again the top scorer in the state as a senior and does not look as if he will be slowing down anytime soon. He is imposing his will on teams every single night and through seven games is up to 28.1 points a game. He is also leading his Cheyenne Mountain team to an undefeated start of the season with his high flying and entertaining dunks, his nice shooting stroke and he is also able to get others involved. Johnson is committed to New Mexico after his senior season but one of the best scorers that we have seen this year has his eyes on a gold ball and is doing everything in his power to make it happen.
Tijani Bamba – Lincoln
There is no shocker from anybody that has seen the Lincoln Lancers play this year that their best player is one of the top scorers in the entire state. Through nine games Bamba is putting up 25.6 points a game and a lot of what he does is inside. He has knocked down some shots but he is able to get to the lane and get everything that he wants. This future Washington State Cougar has been able to carry the load for the Lancers scoring the ball from the combo-guard spot and attacks each mismatch. He is double-teamed each game and still finds ways to deliver and he remains one of the best players and scorers that we have seen this year.
Kai Bertram – Littleton
Senior guard Kai Bertram was a guard to watch last season as a role player that had a few breakout games but to begin the season has stepped up as one of the better scorers in 4A. Littleton is a senior ridden team that has had an up and down start to the season but one consistency has been their sharpshooter. He is up to 22.2 points a game and has put up double-figures in every single game with an explosion of 34 points as well. He finds holes in the defense when he is off-ball and also can create for himself or use the PnR for easy baskets as well. He is a great ballhandler that makes smart decisions and is a player to watch before the season is up.
Randall Days – Widefield
Colorado Springs basketball has been taking over as of late and have a very talented bunch out there worth watching. One of the players that has been a consistent force throughout the years is senior wing/forward Randall Days. He is a brute scorer inside that is also finesse enough to step out and shoot the ball when needed. While he does not shoot it a ton, he is efficient when he lets it fly. He rebounds and goes straight up with the ball, he catches it on the block and has good footwork and he can out the ball on the floor to get to the basket and finish. Widefield isn’t off to the start that they wanted but their best player is putting up 24.4 points a game and is going to do everything to try and keep them in games.
Ezekiel Estrada — Kennedy
Kennedy is a team that is off to a decent start to begin the season and one of the bright spots that has gotten them a few wins has been Senior guard Ezekiel Estrada. Estrada is up to 22.9 points a game. He is a marksman from deep and shoots the 3-pointer as well as anyone in the Denver Prep League. He scores in various ways as he gets to the rim and finishes but the way that he gets open and gets his shot from beyond the arc off is what separates him. The Senior guard will have to continue putting up big numbers if the Commanders want any chance at getting more wins but their senior guard has stood out early on and is an unranked player to watch.
