It was a recurring thing for Center Hill on Friday night in its matchup against Collierville.

The Mustangs missed too many shots just like they did in their home loss to Houston Tuesday night. Layups couldn’t seem to fall and the 3s couldn’t fall either.

Yet, Center Hill was able to get the road win over the Dragons 71-57 to improve to 9-3 on the season. As of right now, the Mustangs have had to rely on their two key returning starters (Decorian Payton and Kaeden Laws) to win games.

Laws has struggled in the past two games, while Payton continues to stay red hot and post double-doubles. Payton finished with 22 points and 15 rebounds, playing in front of Northeast Mississippi Community College. The 6-foot-6 senior forward also picked up an offer from Christian Brothers.

Collierville didn’t have an answer for Payton in the post. He was able to get any rebound he wanted and score from different areas on the floor.
