Indiana is full of great teams and talented players thus giving the fans incredible matchups every week. Join me, Kyler Staley, every Monday during the season as I preview the 3 Players, 3 Teams, and 3 Matchups to watch for that coming week. Are you ready? Let’s get started!
3 Players
Brett Bosely – 2021 PF – Paoli: Bosely is one of the toughest players in all of Indiana high school basketball this year and he has proved that so far this season. I watched him this past Saturday and was really impressed by his willingness to demand the ball even if double-teamed. This junior prospect has got some real potential in his game and once his jumpshot starts falling, he is going to be a complete package I believe. He and the Rams host West Washington this Friday.
Connor Nolot – 2020 SG – Lanesville: This is my “under the radar” player this week as this senior should be getting more attention I feel. He is one of the more explosive, quick guards I have seen and can shoot the ball very well. Nolot has got some of the best moves to fake out the defender and catch them off guard thta I have seen. When I saw him play Paoli, he was the leading scorer of the night with 21 points. He and his Lanesville teammates will host a really good really Providence team on Friday, which should be a fun game.
Landin Hacker – 2021 PG – Center Grove: Hacker had a very good game against Bloomington North last Saturday as he dropped 27 points on the Cougars. For being on the shorter side, Hacker shoots the ball really well and can drive it when given the chance. Coming off a loss against the Cougars, I expect Hacker and squad to have a bounce back game against a good Pike team. Look out for this smooth shooting PG to build off of his 27 point performance.
3 Teams
Bloomington North (4A): Speaking of the Cougars, they have started this season off very hot having beat a solid Bedford North Lawrence team and just beat No.12 Center Grove on the road. Their starting lineup of is built really well and has played very collectively during their first two games. Jeremiah Blair has played like a beast so far and I have really been impressed with JaQualon Roberts’s play as well. They go on the road to take on Mooresville on Friday and I expect them to continue their hot streak through the weekend.
Evansville Bosse (3A): The Bulldogs just beat a Terre Haute South team that does not exactly have the same skill level to match-up with them. This team will have a much tougher test up next as they play a very good Heritage Hills that is one of the favorites to win the 3A State Championship. I believe this is the real first look for this Evansville Bosse team as they will pay a squad that will better matchup to them. This will be a battle of two of the top 3A teams in the state. Buckle up for this one.
Indianapolis Tindley (1A): The Tigers have simply just under-performed this season so far. They have started off 0-3 and none of their games have been even close. This has not looked like a team that we had ranked in the top ten in preseaosn. I have them as a team to watch for this week because they are in must-win territory when they take on Indianapolis HomeSchool on Wednesday. I just takes one win to get back on the right track and I think the Tigers get that this week.
3 Matchups
Barr-Reeve (1A) vs Evansville Memorial (3A) – Dec. 10, 6:30 pm: Barr-Reeve has started off on the right foot like we all expected they would this season. This week will challenge them I believe because they play an Evansville Memorial that nobody has seen yet this season. This will be Barr-Reeve’s second 3A team they have played this season so far so they should know that this will not be a cakewalk. Expect Evansville Memorial to put up a fight against this loaded Bar-Reeve squad.
Carmel (4A) vs Evansville Reitz (4A) – Dec. 14 , 5 pm: The Forum Tip-Off Classic is this Saturday and I believe this might be the best game of the entire day. Carmel is still trying to find their rhythm and Reitze has been playing really well so far this year. I have a strong feeling that Carmel is going to show-out here and have a breakthrough game. I also expect Khristian Lander to have a monster game as well. Lot of interesting pieces in this game but this should be a good one.
Southport (4A) vs Greensburg (3A) – Dec. 14, 12 pm: Another game to check out at the Forum Tip-Off classic is this one. Southport is one of the hottest teams in all of 3A and they are going to go up against a very talented Greensburg team that consists of Andrew Welage and Lane Sparks leading them. Southport’s hot streak will undoubtedly be tested here but if they can knock off one of the 3A’s elite teams, that will prove that the Cardinals are legit.
