Pre-Season Player of the Year: Nate Rawlins-Kibonge, Jefferson
We’ve said it many times that the Class of 2021 is uber-talented, but among all of those players Rawlins-Kibonge stands alone in one aspect – his will to win. There’s more “dog” in the aggressive 6-foot-7 forward than anyone else in the class and after deferring to seniors the past couple of years, Rawlins-Kibonge is ready to step up and really be a leader both vocally and with his play on the court. Defensively, he’s as good big man as they come – how many guys his size will not only block charges but take charges? And offensively, his game has continued to expand where he’ll be even more unguardable than he has been. But it’s his controlled aggression on the basketball floor that sets him apart – and that’s why he’s our pre-season pick for Player of the Year.
