Zack Markus @PrepHoopsTN/AboveTheRimGym Fall Combine Recapture

NBA Stylistic Comparison:
2003 Blazers Dan Dickau
Really quick feet. Zack Markus likes to play fast and it appeared he was jetting from point to point, but awaiting anxiously upon delivering his pass for a teammate to do the same. Speed is the backbone of Markus’ game. He creates problems with his feet.
Undersized guard that can handle well enough to carve up defenses. He will struggle to score in the paint against anybody 6’4″+. Markus gets his shot off quickly, which is necessary for shorter guards to successfully score in tight spaces. Markus is more than a catch-and-shoot guy, but he could be that too if called upon.
In order to be the defender he can be Markus needs a bigger chest. His feet are quick enough that he will and does slide his feet very well. Even so, many 9AAA varsity guards will be able to bull through him with the right amount of grace. Now in the latter half of his high school career, Markus needs to be the bully not the bullied. He needs to become a more imposing high school guard.
Currently, Markus reminds of a couple White House High guards of yesteryear: Jared Ward, Jacob McDonald, etc. All three possess impressive skill. Like Ward, Markus can make the mid-range or long range shot. Unlike Ward, Markus struggles to create his own when the defense is stout.
The chances of Zack playing for Wilson Central this season are much stronger than last. If he can share the court with senior star Caleb Lawrence (PrepHoopsTN #138), then Markus will see more minutes. Lawrence will absolutely be lead guard.
Considering Zack is an adept outside shooter with consistent form and results, he will be a nice complimentary piece at the high school and AAU level in 2019-2020.
