Millbrook is for real, even without Nolan Dorsey
Two games into the regular season, there have been a few murmurs about the absence of 2020 guard Nolan Dorsey due to injury. As evidenced by the final score, the Wildcats are a top team regardless of his absence. 2020 guard Adam Carey has done well to lighten the load at the point guard spot in the meantime. Carey put up 11 points in last night’s win over Garner. So far, so good as Millbrook is off to a 2-0 start. 10 of 11 players that appeared in the game scored at least one point, which seems to be a trend so far in the first two games of the season.
The Wildcats’ size is going to cause problems
The Wildcats got solid efforts from 2020 Sam Hood, Jalen McCoy and 2021 forward Will Felton as they ran away with things in the early going. Hood opened the first half with three made 3-pointers than followed that up with a number of big dunks in the second half. Hood and McCoy both finished with 15 points apiece while Felton posted his second consecutive double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Millbrook’s size was an issue early and often for the Trojans, that’s for sure.
Garner has plenty of time to adjust
Coming into last night’s game, Garner was expected to be a top team in the area. Now, it seems to be back to the drawing board for the Trojans after last night’s tough loss. 2020 guard A.J. Daniels was the only play to score in double-figures on the night with 18 points. 2022 forward Asa White had just nine points in the game and 2020 wing Chris Nobles had just seven points in the contest. They’ll have to adjust going forward after last night’s result.
Finding a No. 1 option
The Trojans couldn’t seem to find their primary scoring threat early in the game and that proved to be their downfall in the end. Daniels did finish with 18 points for them to lead the way but guys like Asa White and Chris Nobles couldn’t get going even though they had big games against Clayton a few nights prior. Ben Hines was held to just nine points after scoring 23 points on seven 3-pointers on Tuesday night as well. They’ll be back in action Tuesday night against Clayton once again.
