Continue ReadingThe Weston Ranch Scrimmage included some of the top prospects from the class of 2022 in NorCal. These young prospects are still developing their skills, but some are ready to step up and make solid contributions to the success of their teams this season. This class brings good size and length.
Myles Bird 6’6 2022, Lincoln HS (Stockton CA).
Byrd is a long armed wiry prospect still growing. His skills are improving. He looks to establish his drives to the rim by hitting 3’s early in the contest. This opens some space for him to use his dribble drive to the basket. In transition he’s a big target out on the wings and can usually finish the play on a pull up jumper in the key or layup. He uses his length to shoot over smaller defenders. Byrds long wingspan takes up a lot of space in the passing lanes which creates deflections and turnovers for his team. He can be a solid defender.
Franlys Arias 6’6 2022, Brookside Christian. (Stockton CA)
Like many of the prospects in this class, Arias will need to add muscle to his frame, but as for as production on the courts, he displayed good footwork and worked well around the basket scoring points inside for this team. On defense he was able to change a few shot with his presence. He rebounded well and had good outlet passes to start the break.
Oziyah Sellers 6’3 2022, Modesto Christian.
I haven’t seen Sellers play a lot. All indications are he can play basketball at a higher level by the way he carries himself on the court. Sellers moves with a quicker pace than others, he gets to his spots whether it’s to the corner for a spot up 3, or just running the floor in general he gets there. He looks to shoot it when he can. He’s a decent ball handler for now, and he’s always moving and slashing.
Darrion Williams 6’5, 2022 Capital Christian. (Sacramento CA)
Williams has a big body and looks like he would be a solid post player, he is a solid post player. As the games progessess on he’s also a decent prospect on the wings, he’s not real fast but he handles himself well away from the basket. He has good court vision and might be an underrated passer. He’s having success shooting the 3 point shot, and he’s good at rebounding and leading the break. A good low block defender.
Takai Emerson-Hardy 6’6,2022 Vanden HS (Fairfield CA)
This prospect is just a good all-round player. He’s a steady performer, like a lot of the prospects in this class, he’ll help his team with his inside work where his footwork and athleticism will bring him the most success. With that being said Hardy has expanded his game, he’s good at attacking from the free throw area either driving or shooting the jump shot. He’s an athletic prospect with good energy making plays on both ends of the court, defending, rebounding, and blocking shot. He’s got an upside.
