***Be aware that the phrase “unsung hero” is not implying that these players are not good or elite, just that they aren’t the “star” of their team.
Owen Shaw 6’5 2021 F Arcadia
I would imagine that Max Majerle would get most of the media attention this high school season. He’s making his return from a major injury and he is obviously the son of GCU Head Coach and former Phoenix Suns star, Dan Majerle. However, a prospect to pay close attention to is Owen Shaw. Shaw is super versatile and deserves just as much recognition and media attention.
Jordan Gainey 6’2 2020 G Salpointe Catholic
Gainey could potentially be overlooked this season, playing alongside Evan Nelson. Nelson is ranked the 5th best player in the 2020 class so he will definitely be the center of a lot of media attention. That statement holds true all the way back when Nelson was a sophomore. However, Gainey is very very good and deserves more credit than what he is given.
Jackson Risi 6’1 2020 G Valley Christian
Many will probably pay close attention to Valley Christian star athlete, Logan Phillips. Definitely worth your time to pay close attention to Logan Phillips but I’d say that Risi is also more than worth your time. The kid can flat out shoot the deep ball with consistency and is a lot more athletic than you would think.
Orlando Gonzalez 5’8 2022 G St. Mary’s
St. Mary’s has a ton of young talent and with that, I think Gonzalez could potentially get lost in the shuffle and become overlooked by the media. I think Gonzalez will be a huge factor on the team’s success this season. He has already shown the poise and play making ability to play at a high level and having a knockdown 3 point shot doesn’t hurt either.
