The top 5-10 prospects in every class are pretty easy to point out, but the rest seem to get under recruited in Washington, even into the start of the junior year. These are players that I believe have the opportunity to take that next step forward with their game and recruitment with the proper performances.
Under the radar juniors:
2021 6’6 SF Messiah Jones (Kamiakin HS)
- Messiah Jones does not really play club ball and he is a star wide-out on the football field, but I think he has a real chance to take things to the next level on the court. He is a strong and mobile athlete that can mix things up. If he can sure up his handle and jumper to match his athleticism and natural ability, he could find himself on some school’s radars. *Feature image
2021 Leland Zender (Squalicum HS)
- A 6’8 stretch 4-man with solid length and mobility. His frame could use some more strength and muscle, but I like how he competes and tries to make plays on both ends of the floor. He has some looks playing with Washington Elite, but junior year will be a big one to show he can take that next step forward in his development.
2021 6’6 SF Christian Norman (Central Valley HS)
- Christian has tools to work with and a very strong work ethic in a 6’6 frame. He can score a bit from all three levels and utilizes shot fakes and step throughs well. His contribution for Central Valley hasn’t been quite what it could be his first two years, but with a lot more opportunity this year, this will be huge for his growth. This winter and then spring/summer will tell us where Christian truly stands as a college prospect. I expect pretty big things out of him.
2021 6’4 PG Steven Westermeyer (Kamiakin HS)
- The point guard for Kamiakin has solid tools to work with as well. I like what I saw from him this summer, but now is the time to take another big step to prove his worth as a college prospect. At 6’4, he has a slick handle and good length to get passed smaller defenders. His frame is starting to fill out a little bit, which will help him versus stronger defenders. There is no reason he shouldn’t lead Kamiakin to a much improved season compared to a year ago. Steven could definitely get some D2 looks with a strong high school season.
Others:
2021 6’6 SF Carter Korab (Jackson HS)
2021 6’5 G Logan Kinloch (West Valley HS)
2021 6’2 Teja Singh (Seattle Academy)
2021 6’1 PG Alex Pape (Roosevelt HS)
