Kylan Boswell (Colony HS, 2024, Guard) After moving in from Champaign, IL to Ontario, CA, Boswell has been heating up both literally and figuratively. The freshman put on a shooting display on Thursday night hitting 6 three pointers, most from 25 ft out, en route to 23 points in a win over Los Ojos HS. Boswell has a smooth handle which allows him to create space and shoot off the dribble. He also utilizes a head fake and hesitation to freeze and fake his defenders. Boswell’s shooting is only going to improve over time and should find himself compared to the other freshman phenoms of his class.
Uriyah Rojas (Los Ojos, 2021, Guard) The scoring guard exhibited unlimited range on his jumper. Rojas hit 5 three pointers, several with hands in his face and near close outs. He utilizes crafty in and out moves and a look away which helped him create room on his shot. He also was deadly from mid range as well. Rojas is a natural scoring guard who can fill up the bucket in a hurry. Rojas finished with 19 points.
Darryl Jackson (Etiwanda, 2020, Guard) Jackson is a dynamic guard who can get buckets in numerous ways. He did damage by attacking the basket and getting to the free throw line, and also by spotting up and knocking down three pointers. Jackson plays with aggression and a second speed. On the defensive end, he moves his feet well and disrupts the passing lanes. Good coaching at Etiwanda combined with his natural skill makes Jackson a well rounded guard who will do well at the next level.
Albert Matute (Los Ojos, 2020, Shooting Guard) The 6’4 guard is a natural scorer. Much like his backcourt mate Uriyah Rojas, Matute can score many buckets in different ways and in a hurry. Matute mixed it up from both outside and inside. He knows how to find his way to the rim, and also has range at the three point line. The scoring guard has a plethora of moves which he uses to breakdown his defender to get a score. Matute finished with 18 points against Colony High School.
Denim Dawson (Colony HS, 2021, wing) Dawson is a player who just keeps getting better and better. Over the summer he participated in several prestigious camps in which he showcased his incremental progression. Fast forward to Thursday, he illustrated all his skills on the hard wood. Dawson utilizes several triple threat moves to attack his defender. He possesses athleticism that allows him to attack the rim and leap up for a score with ease, and also has range out to the three point line. Dawson also has an improved handle to compliment his moves. On Thursday night, Dawson mixed up his scoring with midrange jumpers, baskets, around the rim, FTs, and topped it all off with a game sealing mid range jumper in overtime.
