While North Jersey has more of the state’s top talent, South Jersey is loaded with talented players, including some of the top rebounders in the state. Here are the top rebounders in South Jersey.
Lance Ware, 6’9 PF Camden 2020
The Kentucky commit is one of the top athletes in the state. He uses his length and vertical to sky for rebounds. Ware can sometimes be caught out of position for defensive rebounds, but he rarely allows offensive rebounds. His ability to grab rebounds out of his range makes Camden one of the top teams in the state. Ware has the ability to average over 12 rebounds a game because of his impact on the glass.
Ta’Quan Woodley, 6’6 PF Camden 2021
Woodley is the only player holding Ware from averaging a double-double. The under-sized junior is a force on the glass as he is almost impossible to box out. While he relies on brute strength in the post, Woodley is a terrific athlete as he threw down a couple of windmill dunks in warm-ups before the Trenton Catholic game. He is basically a lock to average 10 rebounds a game and could see his list of offers skyrocket with a big junior season.
Taj Thweatt, 6’7 PF Wildwood Catholic 2020
The only returning member of last season’s All-State team is a double-double machine. Thweatt is an elite rebounder due to his athleticism and positioning. The West Virginia commit has a strong frame and does not get pushed around in the post. Thweatt is looking to take home the Non-Public B South title this season after falling to Ranney School in overtime in the final last season.
Alex Galvan, 6’7 PF Manasquan 2020
Manasquan is not technically part of South Jersey, but Galvan is too good of a rebounder to keep off this list. The Louisville baseball commit is a rugged post player that is always in the right spot. He had a 20-20 game against Toms River East last season and should do that again as a senior. Galvan may not be playing basketball in college, but he is one of the top rebounders in New Jersey and is one of the most underrated players in the senior class.
Jamir Watkins, 6’7 SF Trenton Catholic 2020
The VCU commit may play more on the wing, but he is a terrific rebounder. Watkins uses his strong frame to position himself perfectly for offensive rebounds. He boxes out well on the defensive end and he goes up and grabs rebounds with both hands. Watkins is one of the top players in New Jersey and should easily average a double-double in his senior season.
Kyle Rhoden, 6’9 C Ranney School 2021
Ranney School might be located in Central Jersey, but the Panthers’ participation in Non-Public B South makes their players eligible for this list. Rhoden is a transfer from Central Regional where he was one of the top rebounders in the Shore Conference. The 6’9 junior gobbles up rebounds as he uses his length and athleticism to secure rebounds. Rhoden is in for a big junior season at Ranney School and should see his offer sheet rise significantly.
