Jaylen Drane (Simeon)
Current Ranking: #2
Travel Team: Mac Irvin Fire
Drane without a doubt proved his is the top guard in the class with his play at Pangos Camp this fall. We have always known he can score it. That was obvious again with his slick ball handling and ability to get to the rim. What made even more of an impression was when he had high level players around him he got them the ball in positions to succeed. Intensity starting to come on the defensive end as well.
Trey Pettigrew (Fenwick)
Current Ranking: #7
Travel Team: Meanstreets
Pettigrew is a combo guard that works extremely well around ball screens. Crisp ball handler that knows how to use the pick and read off of it. He is a high level shooter especially pulling up from mid-range. Gets elevation off the floor and has a clean shot every time mechanically. Also has the ability to stretch it out to three. Pushes in transition and is a solid distributor both in the open floor as well as the half court.
Donovan Jones (Solorio)
Current Ranking: #8
Travel Team: Illinois Wolves
Jones is a big bodied combo guard that can flat out score it! He is a natural scorer that seeks out points. Goes right at his defender scoring on euro steps, runners, and layups in acrobatic fashion. Pushes in transition. Shows he can be a capable shooter moving forward and one of the better scoring guards in Chicago in his class at this stage. Potential as a passer going forward.
Caleb Burton (O’Fallon)
Current Ranking: #11
Travel Team: Southwest Jets
Burton first jumped on our radar during his freshman season with O’Fallon. What you have to like about him is his size, length, and fluid offensive skill set. Burton has a feel for the game both passing and scoring. Such a burst with the rock in his hands allowing him to get past his defenders with relative ease. Could be the next big thing at the lead guard spot to come out of the metro east!
Jalen Quinn (Tusola)
Current Ranking: #12
Travel Team: Indy Heat
Quinn had a strong freshman year in Central Illinois. At 6’3” the sophomore is already generating high-major interest because of his size, feel for the game, and ability to get to the rack. Smooth ball handler that slithers through the defense for scores. Also has a passing flair making those around him better. Look forward to seeing his development this season.
Brylan Phillips (Decatur Eisenhower)
Current Ranking: #28
Travel Team: Southwest Jets
Phillips is a high IQ point guard at 5’11”. The Decatur Eisenhower point guard sees the floor making sound decisions with the ball in his hands in the half court. Works well around ball screens. Competes on the defensive end. Phillips had multiple silky smooth drives to the cup where he finished with either hand.
Justin King (Mascoutah)
Current Ranking: #33
Travel Team: Illinois Bears
King was the top young prospect at the Pure Sweat Fall Showcase. Really like the upside with this long and rangy 6’1” point guard who will grow several more inches before his college days. Slippery through traffic with the ball weaving through the defense in both transition and the half court.
Miles Casey (St. Ignatius)
Current Ranking: #34
Travel Team: Young & Reckless
Casey is a high IQ point guard that will remind Catholic League fans of former St. Ignatius standout Riley Doody. Lefty floor general that runs the team and gets others involved. His passing is his biggest strength as a player. Pushes in transition and sees the floor. Plays with a motor and is a leader on the floor.
