Conference Commentary
State Title Contender: Prior Lake, Shakopee, Eastview
The Lakers, Sabers, and Lightning are three teams that have the returning talent, depth, and experience to make a run at the Class AAAA title. Prior Lake has a pair of D1 talents and another player that will likely get their in the future, Shakopee has a senior group as well as a sophomore group that could combine to be special, and Eastview’s senior core will team with a junior group that should win a lot of games.
Top Ten Potential: Lakeville South, Lakeville North
The North Panthers don’t have a star in their line-up for the first time in many years but this is still going to be a very good team. They have a senior pair of guards and one of the best coaching staffs in the state. North may have lost several players to graduation but while those seniors were winning games, the younger levels dominated their games. Lakeville South is moving in and ready to compete for a spot for state (especially with North moving out of the section). South has a fantastic group of juniors and sophomores that are experienced combining size and skill at each spot.
Compete with Most: Burnsville, Apple Valley
The Apple Valley Eagles rebuilt last year and should take a quality step towards success this year. With their returning talent the Eagles could hit .500. Burnsville’s Daniel Rosenbar returns as does a good group of young players that could help them push past their 12-17 record.
Rebuilding: Rosemount, Farmington, Eagan
Eagan improved to 11 wins last year but lost their coach. Much of the talent is back but it will be a new leader and a new system. They have the experience to compete for the middle of the league. Rosemount is still struggling but they should win more than one league game. Then there is Farmington, a team that is tough to figure after losing four of five starters.
Predicted Order of Finish
