Sleepers are college level players that maybe haven’t been seen yet and go under the radar, are late bloomers or have seen big improvements. These players all fit those molds.
Sleeper Guards:
Zachary Szul (2020) | 6-3 G | Anthony Wayne
Szul is truly an under the radar prospect. Could fit in with some area D2 schools really well. Came off as a combo guard when I watched him this fall, with the ability to knock down shots with or without the ball. Won’t impress you with speed or leaping ability, but can score it with the best of them. Doesn’t need a lot of space to let it fly. Handles the ball well, finishes around the hoop nicely. Best basketball ahead as he gets stronger and quicker. Hard worker.
Tahleik Walker (2020) | 6-2 G | Pickerington Central
Walker is one of the best defenders in the entire state, yes entire state. Can lock up the best player on opposing teams, even if they’re bigger. Working with good athleticism and speed he affects the offensive end as well. Finishes around the hoop well, can play on or off ball where he cuts well. Walker is definitely a college level player and could go above and beyond at the Division lll level, not to say Division ll’s shouldn’t take a look.
Conner Maciag (2020) | 6-1 G | Pickerington Central
Maciag is a smart player and the definition of a team player. Has bought into each role he has been given at Pick Central and plays hard all the time. Can shoot it, work off the dribble and handle the ball or work off of it. Tough on ball defender that can force turnovers and allows nothing easy.

Jack Santa-Emma (2020) | 5-11 PG | Jonathan Adler
Santa-Emma is a definite sleeper who shouldn’t be overlooked. Brings a solid IQ to the floor and is a big time player for the Pioneers. Plus shooter that can knock it down off the dribble or a catch and shoot opportunity. The best part of his game in my opinion is his ability to see the floor and make plays for his teammates that other guards wouldn’t see. Could be a good fit for many small college teams.
Cali Davis (2020) | 6-1 G | Africentric
Cali Davis has done a lot of winning at Africentric including playing in a state championship game. The senior is a wizard with the ball where he can get to anywhere on the court and score it. Davis has a quick pivot that catches defenders off guard and allows him to blow by. Does a great job of operating in a heavy guard lineup.
Ketaan Wyatt (2020) | 6-3 PG | Toledo Rogers
Truly believe that Wyatt’s best basketball is ahead of him. Great size for the guard spot and a tough player. The senior has good length that allows him to get inside and finish around the rim. Also, length helps him on the defensive end of the floor where he forces turnovers and can get out in transition. True point guard who distributes the ball well and has a good vision of the court at all times.
