Starters
Jaylen Curry – Guard
Curry is only a freshman but he’ll appear quite a bit this season for the Vance Cougars in the backcourt alongside fellow freshman Trey Green. Curry can get to the rim and finish strong in traffic and is quite the defender for them. He’ll be one freshman to watch in their backcourt rotation.
Trey Green – Guard
Green is the other freshman in Vance’s backcourt and has the ability to create for others and knockdown 3’s from the perimeter at an efficient clip. He’s due for a strong season alongside Jaylen Curry in the backcourt and should pose as a top backcourt duo in the Charlotte area.
Daniel Ransom – Forward
Ransom is a player that creates havoc on the defensive end and gets to the rim on the offensive end. He’s a lengthy forward prospect listed at 6-foot-6 with good strength and awareness on the hardwood on both ends. He’s headed to Western Carolina after his senior season at Vance.
Daniel Sanford – Forward
Sanford is a sophomore forward that’s really coming into his own in the paint. He can get to the rim with ease and finish with authority and also plays strong in the paint the defensive end. He’s another prospect with potential at the next level.
Dexster Hart – Guard
Hart is a senior player with potential as a playmaker and defender in their rotation. He can defend multiple spots on the floor and also has the ability to run the offense when things get stale. He’ll be one to watch to bring their young players along.
Reserves
Jheison Saunds – Vance – Forward
Saunds should bring nice size off the bench at 6-foot-6. He’s a big man with size in the post at 6-foot-5 that uses his size and frame well to establish position in the post. Should give them solid minutes as a reserve off the bench
Davon Dixon – Guard/Wing
Dixon is another senior player on this team that should contribute mightily off the bench. He can get to the rim and finish through traffic and also has the ability make plays for teammates. He’ll give this squad nice depth off the bench.
Antoine Piper – Wing/Forward
Piper is an athletic prospect that can finish at the rim and shoot the ball decent from the perimeter. He’s a sophomore player that’s finding his way off the bench as a slasher and rebounder.
Anthony Moore – Guard/Forward
Moore is another sophomore player off the bench with the potential to act as a shooter off the wing and slasher in the post. He’s got solid size at 6-foot-5 which allows him to play multiple spots on the floor.
After a 20-7 showing in 2018-19, the Cougars have a chance to be a very good team once again in 2019-20. They’ll be young as well but they should be up for the challenge given their size and depth at each position.
