They lost some really good talent to graduation, but yet they still return two players with division one offers. The Yellowjackets have been to the state finals for the past three years, winning two of them against the likes of Heritage Hall and Fort Gibson. Kingfisher will look to make another run to the state finals this season as they look to be one of the most talented teams in Class 4A.
Another bright spot for Kingfisher is how well they move the ball. Kingfisher is an unselfish team that spaces the floor and let’s their shooters shoot. They are led by their two stars Mathew Stone and Bijan Cortes but those two are not afraid to distribute the ball to any of their teammates. With the spacing on the court that they bring, it opens up the game for Bijan to throw down some rim rocking dunks that get the crowd to their feet. His highlight from the Broken Arrow Showcase was a posterizing dunk over a Broken Arrow defender.
Mathew Stone 2021 Kingfisher Guard
Stone is one of Kingfisher’s talented guards that hold a Division I offer. Stone is a calm player under pressure and thrives in situations that others crumble under. He plays with pace and allows his team to get open around him. He has excellent vision to find the open guy whenever his presence draws more than one defender. He also thrives well in the dribble/ drive system that Kingfisher employs because of his ability to finish at the basket.
Bijan Cortes 2021 Kingfisher Guard
Cortes is the showstopper for Kingfisher. He has the experience that keeps him in games when things do not go his way. He also can beat his man with great handles and the ability to attack the basket. He is an athletic guard that could play post against many of his 4A counterparts which will create a mismatch that will be hard to guard. He holds multiple Division I offers and if you see him play there is no question why.
