These teams have been traditionally two of the best teams in the state. This year could be the year they rise to the top again. Last year neither of these teams did great but are looking to come out strong this year.
In this article we will take a dive into Denver East’s team. Even with all of this talent there is no guarantee that they will do well, sometimes too many good pieces do not fit together but hopefully this group can play well together!
Denver East
Last year East got off to a rocky start but finished the season strong with a sweet sixteen loss to a very good ThunderRidge team. With the loss of four senior starters there will be a lot of young guys stepping up. Of those young guys Boston Stanton (2021) is the guy to look out for to lead the team in scoring, he recently just picked up his first D1 offer from the University of Denver. He can score inside and out, having one of the nicest shooting strokes in Colorado. For veteran leadership, Patrick Steed (2020) will be leading the team from the point guard position. They also have the number one player in the class of 2022 in Langston Reynolds, who played up on the Billups Elite 16U over the summer. When Langston played over the summer he was really good at attacking inside but did not have a great jumper; now has improved and is hitting shots consistently.
Denver East also has one of the best point guards in the class of 2021 in Rashawn Wilson, who did not have the biggest role last year but should see more playing time this year. He is a shorter point guard but you would be troubled to find a more athletic point guard. Brad Kerr (2021) is a player who came off of a big summer and will most likely start at the big man spot. Brad can play inside and out, and has good height at 6’6. They have another player who is one of the top players in 2022, Zy’Quis Davis, an athletic point guard who strives on getting to the rim. In addition, they’ve got one of the best shooters in the state in Tom Connelly.
