Cordell Stinson 6’6 PF Spanish Springs (#46) – Stinson has already proven to be a monster on the glass. Probably as close to a guarantee double-double player that we have in the state. The question becomes can he show the ability to step out and be effective on the perimeter? He only made 10 3’s last season but he shot 42%. If he can be as efficient with an increase of attempts, then his stock should rise.
Zarius Benson – Moore 6’4 SF Canyon Springs (#30) – ZBM is one of the longest basketball players I’ve seen in recent memory. At 6’4 his wingspan allows him to play like he’s 6’7. He’s an opportunity play for me. A lot of people don’t know about him, but I expect Canyon to be good, and I expect him to be one of the main contributors. The thought of Spaight with the ball and ZBM and Jhadon Banks running the wing should be frighting to opponents.
Mikey Medlock 6’2 SG Arbor View (#52) – By now everyone is familiar with Medlock because of the show he put on at a recent fall league tournament. I don’t mean to brag, but take a look at my initial rankings from this summer and you’ll see he was in there. He’s a player. Medlock is the type of guy that excels at several different things. He can shoot it, has a good handle, and has the ability to make plays for his teammates. In an age of holdbacks, Medlock is a 17-year-old senior. Arbor View is good, and as they keep winning, I expect his stock to rise.
Amari James 6’3 SG Spring Valley (#19) – James passes the eye test. Any coach that walks into the gym is going to give him the once over. If he consistently plays to his capability, then they will be running back talking about they’ve found a prospect. He has all the tools, a physical speciman with shot-making ability. His stock is dependent on his ability to put together a complete season for the Grizzles.
Ray Daniels – 6’6 SF Somerset Academy (#22) – Daniels is an awesome scorer. He’s going to have some incredible scoring nights. The reality is at the 3A level, there will simply be some teams that can’t match up with him. Somerset is a new school and only won 4 games last season. If Daniels can help them increase that win total, then I expect his stock to rise.
Kareem Rowe 6’4 PF McQueen 2020 – Rowe is a ferocious rebounder, however, his best skill may be his versatility. He has a powerful frame, yet has shown the ability to euro step to the rim, as well as step out and make 3’s. McQueen was 8-16 last season, if his play translates into more wins, then I expect more schools to show interest.
