Connor Linke to Bradley
Big news this week as one of the better centers on the board St. Charles North five man Connor Linke made his decision. He ultimately decided to play in-state to play for Bradley. The Missouri Valley program we were told recruited him harder than anyone and that paid off with his commitment. Skilled 6’9” post that can score in the paint with touch, rebound in his area, and is improving as a shot blocker. Underrated as a passer. Linke was a mainstay with Fundamental U on the PrepHoops Circuit anchoring the paint!
Conor Enright to Drake
We had our second 2021 commitment in the state and this one also comes from the Illinois Wolves travel team program. This one is courtesy of Mundelein point guard Conor Enright as he gave an early verbal commitment to Drake. The high IQ floor general is a sound shooter and a leader on the floor. On the decision he told PHI, “Drake just felt like home and it had an environment that I want to play and I think I can have a big impact on too.”
Connor McCance to Northern Michigan
McCance is your classic physical five man that plays with his back to the basket and is physical rebounding around the hoop. The big man from Oswego gave his commitment to attend Northern Michigan over interest from several other D2 programs.
Johnathan Oden to Governors State
Oden is a name that has flown a bit under the radar, but we liked what we saw out of him with the Chicago Demons in July. Strong post that anchors inside, mauls on the glass, and is a shot blocking presence. He committed to NAIA Govenors State recently telling us, ”Govenors State was a university where I see myself growing as a person and being able to get my diploma.”
Olivier Maxence Prosper to Clemson
A former Illinois prospect made his decision this week as well. Last year Olivier Maxence Prosper played at Lake Forest Academy. This year the athletic and upside combo forward originally from Canada opted to attend the NBA Academy in Latin America. He committed to Clemson and will reclassify to the 2020 class to join the ACC program next season.
Chicago State offers Bolingbrook Trio
Bolingbrook has been one of the most consistent talent producers over the last decade in the state of Illinois. That will continue into the future. Chicago State offered a trio of their prospects this week. 2021 wing Kai Evans got one along with landing another offer from Western Michigan. 2023 duo Mekhi Cooper and Donaven Younger also scored offers. Younger is tracking early on as one of the best freshman in the class.
Niles Notre Dame Wings Racking Up Offers
One of the teams I am most excited to see this year is Niles Notre Dame with their trio of highly ranked 2021 prospects. Two of them continued to add to their offer collections as Louis Lesmond picked up an offer from Loyola while Troy D’Amico got one from Southern Illinois. Two of the best junior wings in the state have the in-state Missouri Valley school’s full attention!
D2 Offers Going Out
Two players that we love what they bring to the table at the D2 level were given more options there recently. St. Charles North point guard Luke Scheffers scored one from Grand Valley State. High IQ guard that shoots it and works well around ball screens. Riverside Brookfield small forward Paul Zilinskas is a high level shooter and skilled wing that puts up points in a hurry! He told PHI that Quincy extended an offer.
First of Many Offers for 2022 Post
Sulaimon Agiste is a 6’8” center that has long arms and legs. Intriguing long term prospect with how he protects the rim, runs the floor, and rebounds already. Offensive potential. UMass was the first school to step up to the table with an offer.
Jack Hays Update
Von Steuben is a team on the rise that is primed to make some noise this year. One senior to watch on their squad is shooting guard Jack Hays. The lefty has a crisp looking jump shot and a burst off the bounce which he often finishes with runners. On his recruitment Govenors State, Judson, and Concordia are aggressively pursuing him. Also talked a little with Holy Cross, Western Illinois, and Iona. He has already taken visits to Govenors State and Judson. Will trip to Concordia on November 11.
