The following players are now ranked in the Top 135 statewide (LEFT-new rank).
#123 JaQuan Taylor (Dickson County)
Passionate floor general. Has a little Jared Harper to his game (Auburn 2017-2019, G-League 2020). Taylor teams with Jaden Davis in the Dickson backcourt. Taylor is exceedingly loyal. When asked if he intended to find a new basketball home after his head coach took a new job, Taylor replied, ‘No. My plan is to stay. I feel like this is home. No matter the coach I’m gonna still put the same work in and earn everything that comes to me.’
#124 Camden Burden (Sevier County/Alcoa)
Dual-sport athlete, Camden transferred to Alcoa and competes weekly for the football team. His basketball focus is likely to wane in the coming year. He had a really impressive 2018-2019 for Sevier County High and impacted their incredible playoff run.
#125 Douglas Hooten Jr. (Pope John II)
#126 Murphy Strickland (Whites Creek)
Antioch’s Bears are completely rebuilding. Instead of being an important part of that rebuild, Strickland transferred to Whites Creek…another team starting from scratch. Murphy enters his third high school season as a 6-foot-1 wing. He likes playing the 3/4 in high school. This year he is working as a 2/3. Strickland, in the past, played AAU with both Team CGB and Club 51.
#127 Josh Keck (Mt. Juliet)
Might see some minutes for Mt. Juliet this season. He is unproven at the Class AAA level, but served as a competent shooter with Club 51 the last two summers. Keck has impressive height for a 2-guard. He probably doesn’t have the handle now to indicate a switch to point guard.
#128 Jaheim McDonald (West Creek)
McDonald ran with Tennessee Edge 17u all summer. Head Coach Tony Thompson enjoyed a lot of wins thanks to Jaheim and a cuople other teammates. Jaheim grew up with Kamarie Coffey. They attend West Creek together and really play well off of each other. McDonald is a quick lead guard with potential to blowout this season. West Creek graduated a lot of talent between Montre Boddie and Jaylen Negron and there are minutes open for the next wave. NOTE: Jaheim is that next wave. McDonald’s shooting touch is probably his most bankable asset, if you don’t consider his height. At 6-foot-2+, McDonald is the ideal size for a college combo. Right now, his skills lend themselves to a catch-and-shoot shooting guard. He can finish in traffic, but his handle and the sharpness of his cuts needs work longterm.
#129 Jake Kesterson (Oak Ridge)
Younger brother of graduated sharpshooter Joe Kesterson.
