This event featured 16 teams in one day and it was the opening weekend for the UIL schools to start their high school season. Let’s take a look at some prospects who stood out at the event.
Chris Wiseman 6’6 F • 2021 • Langham Creek
Chris is a long athletic forward. He mainly plays down low because he is the biggest guy on the team. He has a decent handle on the ball and thrives from the wing and on the offensive glass. He had 3 dunks in the game also. Solid floor awareness on both sides of the ball. Active on-ball defender as well and can guard some two’s. He finished with 27 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 steals. He shot 11/17 from the field, 1/2 from deep, and 4/4 from the charity stripe.
Amaree Abram 6’1 PG • 2022 • Port Arthur Memorial
He is still on fire from the Summer session on the Nike E15 Circuit. Speedy guard who has poise and is a north and south guard who gets it done. He makes the game look rather easy at times. Big time motor guard who pushes it in transition. Here is his stats 23 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals. He shot 6/10 from the floor, 1/3 from behind the arc, and 10/10 from the foul line.
Kenneth Lofton Jr 6’6 PF • 2020 • Port Arthur Memorial [Louisiana Tech] PHTX150
Lofton is a highly-skilled forward that could be used as a combo forward / point forward in many situations. He has a high IQ and gets his teammates involved in the game with flashy passes. Very patient inside the paint or in the post and uses a lot of triple threat moves and head fakes to get defenders off guard. He will be a great addition at La Tech next year. Here were his stats 18 points, 14 rebounds, and 5 assists. He shot 7/16 from the field and 4/7 from the foul line.
Nathan Clover 6’8 C • 2020 • Port Arthur Memorial [Oral Roberts] PHTX150
He is a cleanup guy around the rim. Solid on the low block both offensively and defensively. A rim protector that is forceful and causes a lot of altered shots as well. Solid hands and runs the middle of the floor the entire game from end to end. He will be attending Oral Roberts University next year. Here are his stats from the game 17 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 blocked shot. He shot 6/10 from the field and 5/7 from the foul line.
Chris Felix 6’5 WG • 2021 • Westbury Christian PHTX75
Felix is a wiry wing that can handle the rock. Gets downhill and has a nice dribble package. Utilized his mid-range game or he’s going to the rim. Has decent lateral movement defensively with a nice long wingspan to hold opponents in front of him. Here is his stats 16 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. He shot 4/16 from the field and went 8/10 from the charity stripe.
Kasen Harrison 6’1 PG • 2020 • Beaumont United [Lamar] PHTX150 as seen in picture
Kasen was one of the best players the entire night of the Season Opener. The Lamar University commit was the man on the floor. He created for himself and others. He had a lot of tough finishes at the rim. He gets a lot of paint touches where he opens up the floor for his teammates. He was giving the opposing ball handlers fits as he put clamps on them as well. Here is his stats 23 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. He shot 6/12 from the field, 0/1 from deep, and 11/15 from the foul line.
Jaylen Subject 6’5 F • 2020 • Beaumont United
Jaylen always found himself to be in the right spots at the right time on every single possession. He was always moving without the ball in his hands and set some solid off-ball screens as well. Here is his stats 13 points and 5 rebounds. He shot 3/6 from the field, 2/4 from deep, and 5/8 from the foul line.
Tramon Mark 6’6 SG • 2020 • Dickinson [Houston] PHTX150
The University of Houston commit had some struggles at the beginning of the game, but in the fourth quarter, he got to cooking. He is a long prospect who has great court speed with and without the ball. Nice handles and dribble combos to create off the dribble. He also plays defense and isn’t afraid to challenge anything at the rim. Here are his stats from the game 24 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists, and 1 block. He shot 4/14 from the field, 1/3 from deep, and 15/18 from the foul line.
Marcus Williams 6’3 SG • 2020 • Dickinson [Northern Colorado] PHTX150
Marcus can be utilized as a combo guard but is better off the ball because he is more of a scoring threat than a facilitator. He couldn’t get his shots to fall as usual but he still played solid on-ball defense. Jumped the passing lanes to deflect a lot of balls, and got after the 50/50 balls as well. Here are his stats from the game 15 points and 4 steals. He shot 5/16 from the floor, 2/9 from deep, and 3/6 from the charity stripe.
Deuce Guidry 5’7 PG • 2020 • Dickinson PHTX150
Deuce is a quick lead guard that can also shoot it from deep. He is quick enough to get in the lane and even finish over the bigger defenders at the rim. The lefty has a hair-trigger from behind the arc. He currently holds one offer on the table from Lamar St.-Port Arthur College but should pick up many more as the season progresses. Here were his stats in the game 14 points on 5/10 from the field, 2/6 from deep, and 2/2 from the foul line.
