The 6’8″ Ott has developed into a quality prospect over the past year to the point where he has received plenty of collegiate interest from Division II and III schools. The reason for Ott’s improvement as a player is simple. It all comes down to hard work.
“The key to my improvement as a player has been getting into the gym,” he said. “Whether that means getting in before school or staying after practice.”
Ott has received interest from schools such as Missouri Baptist, Knox and Manchester, but he was very excited to pick up his first offer from Division II Lindenwood University.
“When I got my first offer, I was in the car with my mom,” he said. “I was so happy, I was blasting music and jumping up and down.”
Chaminade figures to one of the top contenders in Class 5 this season with the return of standout players such as Kansas State commit Luke Kasubke, versatile guard Harrison Vickers and top sophomore prospect Tarris Reed, Jr. Even with all of those standouts on the roster, it would also be wise to pay attention to Ott because of his size and versatile skills set. He has excellent post moves around the basket and a nice shooting touch to go along with it.
“I contribute my success as a post player to being able to use pump fakes and pass fakes to my advantage because I am not the most athletic player,” he said.
Ott really got an opportunity to showcase his talents during the summer grassroots season while playing for the Arsenal Hoops 17U squad. To go along with his low post skills, Ott was also able to display his passing and 3-point shooting skills as well.
“The success I had this summer has lead to a major boost in confidence,” he said. “It has also led to me being a more vocal leader.”
