The senior forward impressed this fall, most recently with a stellar performance at Coach Dell Johnson’s Let’s Get Ready III. Skiba is a 6’5″ forward that attends Henry Ford II and played grassroots basketball with the Michigan Goonies. Last high school season he averaged 15.4 ppg, 3.4 apg, 2.9 bpg, and 1.8 spg.
Skiba has an impressive skill set. He’s aggressive with the ball and can score in a variety of ways. Skiba is a threat to score facing the basket, as he has shown the ability to attack the rim off the dribble. He can also get buckets with his back to the basket using post moves. Skiba is a force on defense with his ability to block shots. He times his jumps and uses his athleticism to protect the rim. Skiba is a physical rebounder on both ends of the floor.
Skiba is always striving to improve and play in big environments. He’s currently working on his on ball defense. Skiba wants to improve as a perimiter defender. His biggest moment in the game of basketball was when he was called up to the varsity team just 5 games into his sophomore season. He was able to see his hard work pay off. Skiba is looking forward to an intense opening game of the season against Stoney Creek. He feels that the game could set the tone for the season.
Matt Skiba has a lot to offer to a college basketball coach. In addition to his impressive skill set, he brings a willingness to be coached and get better. Skiba has a high ceiling and a lot of room for continued growth.
Skiba has goals that he wants to achieve. This season, he wants to average 22 points per game and 10 rebounds per game. He hopes to lead his high school team to a District championship as well. Skiba is working toward playing 4 years of college basketball and earning a degree.
