Prospect Spotlight: Ariel Goddot (2021)
Ariel Goddot, a class of 2021 forward from Bishop Ireton, has been a standout performer for the Cardinals over the years and continued to play well during a recent scrimmage. The 6-foot-5 junior has an important role as the team’s defensive anchor. Goddot will be asked to rebound in and out of his area but also finish consistently around the basket on the offensive end.
“We played okay, but we can be better,” Goddot told Prep Hoops after the scrimmage. “Our defense needs to improve. It’s always my job to make sure we play good defense and rebound. I’m like the 5 on the team so I have to do that.”
During the offseason, Goddot worked on improving his shooting, and this was evident throughout the scrimmage. He looked particularly confident from the foul line where he showed good touch. Goddot explained that he is still working on becoming a consistent shooter, specifically from behind the arc from the catch and shoot.
Princeton is one school that has reportedly shown interest in Goddot. That list should grow as he continues to improve and produce on the floor.
What are his goals?
“My goal is to play D1 basketball and hopefully improve. I feel like in college I can actually get better. There are coaches who can train you. Right now, I’m basically self-taught. I do everything on my own and it’s kind of hard.”
