Point guards in particular can make a huge difference in the level of play and there were a number of guys that really showed good capabilities in passing the ball. Here’s a look at the top passers we saw on Sunday.
Nolan Hickman (2021 Eastside Catholic-WA)
Hickman was in full control of the game whenever he had the ball and did whatever he wanted to do. As much as he scored – he was one of the top scorers in the event – he passed as well, consistently finding guys for open shots on the perimeter or going to the basket.
John Hart (2020 Rainier Beach-WA)
Hart is best known as a scorer but he did his share of passing too. He hit a couple of guys streaking to the basket off the drive and dish but also flashed some impressive interior passing as well on a couple of offensive rebounds.
KeShawn Hall (2021 Jefferson)
Hall used his strength and ball-handling creativeness – he’s already our pick for Oregon’s master of the Euro Step move – and once he got in the paint when he wasn’t scoring it himself he was getting it to his teammates for buckets. Playing alongside Bittle certainly didn’t hurt his cause.
Cobee Crawford (2020 Benson)
Crawford is a talented scorer but has been working on becoming more of a distributor and that hard work was clearly evident on Sunday. He did a good job of setting the tempo and getting his teammates involved whenever he was in the game.
Tai Warner (2020 Grant)
Warner knows his projected position at the next level will be at point guard so he’s been working on his passing. That was clear at the PT40 as he often gave up his own offense to get it to his teammates for an easier shot.
Mason Lomax (2020 Sprague)
Lomax did a good job of balancing scoring the ball himself and creating for his teammates. In fact, one area where he really excelled with his passing was starting the break and throwing half-court passes up to teammates streaking to the basket.
