Our series will take a look at the best teams in the state for each class with our rankings. Starting at #50 and going to #1, we will look at each class ranking across all classes starting now with #3.
1A #3: Covington
Covington is coming off a 22-5 season where they were very good all year and while they had a couple questionable losses early in the year, they locked in and made it all the way to the Regional Finals. Now, they return nearly everyone from that team. Colton Brown, Logan Pinkerton, Caleb Ellmore, and Daniel Keller all return as 4 of their Top 5 scorers. They still have to find a way to get past Central Catholic, a task they have struggled with but these two teams should be pretty evenly matched this year.
2A #3: Shenandoah
Shenandoah is one of the more well coached teams you are going to find. They have a ton of talent and they are nearly all Juniors this year. They have the depth you want with guys like Jakeb Kinsey, Peyton Starks, Andrew Bennett, Kam Graddy, Kaden McCollough, and Colton Monday. They have enough size for 2A to make a run and plenty of scoring options to boot. This is a team that only has 1-2 games this year that look like trouble. If they make it through New Pal and Fishers early in December, this team could go undefeated during the regular season.
3A #3: Evansville Bosse
Last year was a little tough to Bosse who had to piece together things early but really got going towards the end of the year. Now, they should have more pieces to help with Kiyron Powell leading things. Ty’ran Funches and Julian Norris have both taken steps forward and should really be able to help with the scoring this year. Will Lucy is back to help on the ball and Matt Wagner can be a shooting presence for them on the perimeter. They are in a good spot but 3A South is absolutely loaded and won’t be easy to navigate through.
4A #3: Jeffersonville
Jeffersonville had a late coaching change but not sure that hurts this team all that much. They are going to be really good this year and their high-end talent should really show through. Led by Tre Coleman, they are going to have a few problems for teams to stop them. Devean Franklin can really shoot it, Jacob Jones should always have the ball in his hands, and Will Loving-Watts has the upside to be a star for this team. They don’t have elite size in the post but they are tough and rebound so well that they should just run all over teams.
