Our series will take a look at the best teams in the state for each class with our rankings. Starting at #50 and going to #1, we will look at each class ranking across all classes starting now with #15.
1A #15: Jac-Cen-Del
The Eagles will be coming off a slighting above .500 record heading into this new season. Their will certainly be some changes to this team as they will have a new, first year head coach, Jack Day. This year’s team will be led by Justin Ohlmansiek, Wyatt Day, and Brandon Baber. Even with a new head coach, the Eagles return a great group of talent. This team is the type that can run, play fast, and loves to shoot. They may have a loaded Sectional, but if this team plays to their strengths, they could walk out a champion.
2A #15: Park Tudor
The Panthers will be heading into this season off a great 16-7 record last year. This team will be looking to get back to championship glory and they certainly have the talent to do so. Look for leaders of this year’s squad to be big man J.C. Glenn and great shooter Elijah Shelton. Also look for breakout seasons from starters Malachi Archey and Ronald Johnson along with sophomore stud Jordan Bowles. This is a more mature team than it was last year. Park Tudor has pretty much the same schedule and will be in a tough Sectional Bracket. Look for this talented team to make some noise this season.
3A #15: Northwestern
The Tigers will be coming off a great 19-3 record but a tough Sectional loss to West Lafayette to add to it. This team loses a host of outgoing seniors that made up most of their talent last season. This year’s team has great talent still like stud point guard Tayson Parker. Look for prospects like Nae Bennett, Mason Estle, and Ethan Kinney to all have breakout seasons. This is a smart team that are also great defenders. Look for this team to not only avenge their Sectional loss, but go on a deeper run in the post-season.
4A #15: Avon
The Orioles are coming into this season off a 15-10 record and Sectional Championship. This squad also returns a very good crop of talent. Look for shooting guard Camden Melvin to step up and be the leader of this team. Also look for lengthy small forward Jayden Brewer and glass monster Gabe McNary to be one of the best forward duos in 4A. Point guard Chrishon McCray will be looking to make a leap forward this season. This could be the best team Coach Jeff Holloway has had yet at Avon. Expect them to be dominant this season and improve in every aspect of the game.
