This season, some new players will rise and some expected players will show out. There is no Danyon Hempy or Jason Ellis that can go out and drop 40 any five given night like there used to be, but there’s still some pretty good talent.
Here we take a look at the best from Marion County, who you’ll want to watch for this season.
First Team:
Ethan Bell (2021) | 5-9 PG | River Valley
The best passer in Marion County is without a doubt Ethan Bell. Floor vision that leads to good looks for teammates is definitely there. Bell can shoot it from deep and uses the floater in the lane to score inside. Undersized but is a competitor. If River Valley is going to be improved they’ll need a lot from their lead guard.
Patrick Blubaugh (2020) | 5-10 G | Marion Pleasant
Blubaugh is better known on the gridiron, his toughness translates well the the hardwood however. The senior can shoot the ball pretty well, best as a spot up shooter. A quick guard that is a solid defender. Spartans will need someone to step up this season, Patrick could be one of those players. Does a lot of things that won’t show up in the stat sheet.
Dylan Johnson (2021) | 6-3 WG | River Valley
Johnson is an underrated wing scorer in the MOAC, and the Central Ohio area at that. The junior has grown an inch, which should help him around the rim more often. Johnson can shoot it, but uses his length best scoring off ball. One of the better players in Marion County.
Mitch Myers (2020) | 6-2 WF | Marion Harding
Myers is one of the better athletes in the county, in a couple sports. The wing is a plus shooter from deep, where a lot of his production will come from. Has some post moves in his bag that he can use inside and is a solid rebounder despite being undersized for his position. Senior President can take his game to the next level with a greater ability to drive from the perimeter. Should be in store for a nice senior season.
Jahki Henderson (2021) | 6-5 PF | River Valley
Henderson is in a better suited spot for his game at River Valley where he transferred to. After losing their last big to graduation, the junior will immediately fill a void. Good size and burst around the rim, Jahki is going to be tough to stop night in and night out. And, if he keeps his motor going, he could have some nice double-double kind of games.
Honorable Mention:
Tabias Thompson-Reece (2020) | 6-2 CG | Marion Harding
Alex Joachim (2020) | 6-0 G | Marion Pleasant
Ayden Rich (2021) | 6-2 WG | Marion Harding
Klayton Kenney (2021) | 6-0 G | River Valley
Ryan Sheridan (2020) | 6-5 WG | Elgin
