Buckeye Valley is on the rise with a nice sophomore class, and Delaware Hayes has a nice senior class that knows how to win. Honestly, I believe Delaware County is an underrated area of producing talent when it comes to a whole state.
First Team:
Nate Griggs (2020) | 6-0 PG | Delaware Hayes
Griggs is one of the tougher guards in Central Ohio. Doesn’t shy away from contact, rather absorbs it and still finishes inside through it. The senior puts the ball on a string and often gets defenders off balance. Hayes lead guard will likely see a boost in production, as they will need after losing their top scorer from last season.
Henry Hinkle (2021) | 6-0 PG | Olentangy Liberty
Henry Hinkle steps in as the top player for the Patriots this season after they lost a big senior class and a lot of production. Hinkle brings experience back as a vital piece of last years final four team. The junior can lead the offense for Liberty, get others involved as well as knock down shots. It could be a learning and growing year for his team, but he should be at the top of that.
Dylan Herbert (2020) | 6-0 G | Buckeye Valley
Herbert can fill it up the quickest in the county. Lightning fast player that changes speeds left and right. Has been productive since his freshman season for the Barons and will be once again this season. Scores it pretty well from all three levels of the game. A player to watch in his new league this season too.
Paul Burris (2020) | 6-5 WF | Delaware Hayes
Delaware Hayes continues to pump out good basketball talent, Burris is no different. A prototypical player for this day and age with his ability to handle the ball as well as stretch the floor. Burris has length that affects both sides of the floor. Spot up shooter or can finish inside. Should have a big senior season for the Pacers.
Troy Scowden (2022) | 6-7 PF | Buckeye Valley
The lengthy Scowden burst onto the scene last season for the Barons as a freshman, in which he was solid. An athletic big that can run the floor, stretch it and block shots. The sophomore should take another step forward this season with BV. Adding some more strength to his game could have him trending upward even more.
There’s more than just the first team, check out who else will standout!
Honorable Mention:
Andre Irvin (2021) | 5-9 PG | Olentangy Orange
Ethan Smith (2022) | 6-0 G | Olentangy
Addison Harvey (2022) | 6-0 G | Delaware Hayes
Dylan Thompson (2022) | 6-1 WG | Buckeye Valley
Max Stokey (2020) | 6-7 PF | Buckeye Valley
