3A |
Breakdown |
1 |
Silver Creek |
Silver Creek is coming off a State Title in 3A last year and should be right back in line to make another run. They return nearly all their pieces with Kooper Jacobi, Trey Kaufman, and Branden Northern back in the mix. They only have one senior this year so this could just be the middle of a run for this team. 3A South is no fun this year for teams as they have 4 of the best teams in 3A located there. But, none has a State Championship to their name right now like Silver Creek or the high-end talent across the board. Should be another fun season in Sellersburg. |
2 |
Heritage Hills |
The Patriots are coming off a 22-2 season and upset loss to Evansville Bosse in the first round of Sectional. They, however, return their top four scorers from last year’s team. They will be led and outstanding senior duo in Murray Becher (20.4 ppg) and point guard Simon Scherry (15.6 ppg). They also return a top 2021 power forward Blake Sisley (12.8 ppg). This is the type of team that is going to play with a chip on their shoulder all season long. Heritage Hills is too talented of a team just to get bounced in the first round of Sectionals. The Patriots should prove that last season’s post-season was a fluke and look to show that they are one of the top teams in the whole state. |
3 |
Evansville Bosse |
Last year was a little tough to Bosse who had to piece together things early but really got going towards the end of the year. Now, they should have more pieces to help with Kiyron Powell leading things. Ty’ran Funches and Julian Norris have both taken steps forward and should really be able to help with the scoring this year. Will Lucy is back to help on the ball and Matt Wagner can be a shooting presence for them on the perimeter. They are in a good spot but 3A South is absolutely loaded and won’t be easy to navigate through. |
4 |
Greensburg |
The Pirates of Greensburg are coming off a fantastic 24-2 season. They may lose an awesome player in Drew Comer, but this year’s team has lots of talented prospects to make up for it. They will be led by top 2020 small forward prospect Andrew Welage (16.4 ppg) and Top 2021 point guard prospect Lane Sparks (14. 9 ppg). Also look for senior Miles Wilkison (10.0 ppg) to be a great contributor as well. This team may have lost quite a bit of seniors but expect some good JV players to step-up. With a fairly easy regular season and Sectional, expect them to be favorite to potentially make it the 3A State Finals. |
5 |
South Bend St. Joseph |
The Indians are coming off a not-so-great 12-10 season. This year’s team will be led by a pair of great junior prospects, center Adam O’Dell and small forward J.R. Konieczny. Expect a breakout season from both point guard Cole Hatkevich and power forward Jakob O’Dell. This is a talented team from top-to-bottom. Coach Mark Johnson will have a much better team than last year’s squad. They should have a competitive schedule but expect them to win most games fairly easily and expand their season even more come post-season. |
6 |
Bishop Dwenger |
Bishop Dwenger has been going back and forth from 3A to 4A for a while and is now back at 3A for a season when there isn’t a ton of talent in the northern half of the state in that class. So, coming off a middling year going 12-11, Dwenger will look to make a jump back up to the top of the standings. Brenden Lytle returns to lead this team on the point. Add in sohpomore Owen Shively to help with their post game and you have the starting pieces to build around. They will be replacing a ton of talent here but Dwenger reloads every single year and even in year’s when they are not that great, they can make runs in the postseason. |
7 |
South Bend Washington |
The Panthers are coming off a lackluster 14-11 record but return their top four scorers from last season. Physical players DeMarcus Vaughn (15.6 ppg) and Jylen Petty (14.2 ppg) will be the duo to lead this squad this season. This duo has been fantastic together all four years and will be looking to go out with a bang. Prospect Jayne Griffin (11.1 ppg) will be the “x-factor” for the Panthers this season. This might be one of the more aggressive team in 3A as they kind of have an old-school playing mentality. They should win Sectional and make a deep run in the post-season. Teams will have the challenge of matching their toughness if they want to be able to compete with this physical team. |
8 |
Greencastle |
In the last 3 years, Greencastle has become a really strong program goign 46-28 in head coach Bryce Rector’s tenure. They won their first Sectional since the 2003-04 season. Now, they are setup to make a real run with a really deep and talented roster. Led by Brody Whitaker and Benton Parmley, thier top 2 scorers from last season, Greencastle has plenty of scoring options in this deep junior class. Look for Cade Plew and Nick Sutherlin to be the next up for this group. Their Sectional continues to be good but not great and their Regional got quite a bit easier with Attucks moving up to 4A. This could be the year. |
9 |
North Harrison |
The Cougars are heading into this season off a bad 10-14 record but will have a new coach, Lou Lefevre, who has an amazing 266-79 record in 16 years overall as a head coach. The leaders of this team will be Ohio commit Langdon Hatton and prospect Branden Jenkins. Expect a breakout season for both power forward Ethan Oakley and shooting guard Logan McIntire. This team has a scary combination of great talent and a coach that knows how to get the best out of his kids. This squad should expect a competitive schedule but one they have a chance to show their improvements. There is a great opportunity for the Cougars to become Sectional Champions for the first time since 1996 |
10 |
Brebeuf Jesuit |
The Braves will be coming off a great 16-6 record but with a tough sectional loss to Indianapolis Attucks to add to that. They also lose a good chunk of talent that were outgoing seniors. They, however, return some really good talent like 6’3 small forward Alec Bevelhimer and 6’6 power forward Evan Altman. They also have a 2022 class that is bound to breakout with prospects like small forwards Billy Smith and Brendan Wood, and shooting guard Paul Stubblefield. With a team that loves to move the ball create the best shot, expect this squad to play to their potential and make a State Championship run. |
11 |
Delta |
Delta had one of the most impressive seasons last year but it ended too quickly as they lost to Marion in the Regional Championship game after going undefeated the rest of the season. While they lose a good group of senior including Josh Bryan, they have a good senior group in Zach Garner, Conner Bedwell, and Josh Greenberg along with standout junior Brady Hunt returning. Hunt is looking more and more like a breakout candidate. He averaged 12 and 8 last year. Their Sectional and Regional both are easier than last year and while they might not have the depth like last year, their top end talent should push this team quite a ways. |
12 |
Mishawaka Marian |
The Knights are coming off a fantastic 20-4 season and return their top two scorers. This team will be led by Purdue commit Jaden Ivey and 6’4 small forward prospect Maddix Bogunia. Look for a breakout season from guard Jerry Bracey. This team has a star with good pieces around him. This squad could go on a deep post-season run if they can survive a competitive Sectional. But regardless of the Sectional outcome, expect another dominant regular season. |
13 |
Connersville |
Connersville is one of the few teams that is going to benefit a ton from reclassification. Moving down to 3A and out of the toughest 4A Regional in the state is going to give them a legit shot to make a run. They bring back a ton of talent including 6’6 Jacob Brown, Clayton Garrison, and Garrett Wickes. Ethan Smith and Damon Huffman on the wing will provide great size. Losing Noah Belt and his 17.4 ppg hurts but they are not without veteran talent and give head coach Kerry Brown a team with leadership and talent and he is going to go to work. They are notorious for knocking off more talented teams and give them a much easier Sectional and Regional and lets just see how this goes. |
14 |
Northwestern |
The Tigers will be coming off a great 19-3 record but a tough Sectional loss to West Lafayette to add to it. This team loses a host of outgoing seniors that made up most of their talent last season. This year’s team has great talent still like stud point guard Tayson Parker. Look for prospects like Nae Bennett, Mason Estle, and Ethan Kinney to all have breakout seasons. This is a smart team that are also great defenders. Look for this team to not only avenge their Sectional loss, but go on a deeper run in the post-season. |
15 |
Hamilton Heights |
Last year, Hamilton Heights went 15-9 and made a little run in the postseason before losing to a very talented New Castle team. But, now they are going to be the more talented team as they return nearly all of their roster backed by Gus Etchison, Camron Knott, Hudson Hochstedler, and Issiac Hickok. This is a team that is going to run and gun a bit. They don’t have a team that is loaded in their Sectional or even Regional. Tough teams for sure but no one that is considered a Top 10 team. If Etchison gets going at the top of his game, this team could really make a run. |
16 |
Norwell |
The Knights of Norwell will be heading into this season off a record of 14-10. They will be led by incredible senior forward Will Geiger. This 6’4 big man can really do it all like dominate in the post on both sides or even step-out and pop some threes. They also have some great returning players like Connor Torson and Drew Federsiel. Norwell is in for one of their best seasons in school history. They have a favorable schedule and Sectional which gives them a great opportunity to go on a deep post-season run. Geiger and crew should be a real fun team to watch. |
17 |
Brownstown Central |
Brownstown Central is coming off a year in which they graduated six seniors and all of their starters. This will be a whole new team. However, this won’t be the first time and he does have some new seniors stepping up. They should be deeper than they have been in the past and while they might take an initial step back, head coach Dave Benter just knows how to develop and win. The last time he won less than 10 games in a season, it was 1999. If there is a discussion of schools that you know will be ready to play in March regardless of circumstances, Brownstown Central is at the top of that list. |
18 |
Danville |
The Warriors will be coming into this season off a solid 15-9 record. They return a roster full of varsity experience. This team will return a couple leaders such as 6’6 power forward Dillon Ware and 6’5 small forward Sam Comer. Ware (14.4 ppg, 6.1 rpg) is extremely active on the glass whereas his teammate Comer (10.5 ppg, 4.4 rpg) is a great defender. Look for a huge breakout season for great combo guard Peyton Roof (8.9 ppg, 4.4 rpg). This is a well-built roster with some great pieces. If they can get past Greencastle in Sectional, they have a shot to go on a deep post-season run. Look for Coach Brian Barber to get this team back on track. |
19 |
Hanover Central |
Hanover Central is coming off of one of their best years in a long time going 17-9 and winning a Sectional. This is their second-straight stellar season and will now try and go for a third as they bring back a good amount of talent while some have developed really well. Dominic Lucido, T.J. Burt, Joey Gildewell, and Kole Popko return as their #2-#5 scorers last year. Only Luke Barach leaves as a significant piece, their top scorer. However, look for sophomore Landen Babusiak to step up in a big way this year. The 6’7 and growing forward could possibly replace that missing scoring and doing it as a wing forward with great size. With no more Culver Acadmies in 3A, they could be a sneaky pick to make a deep run. |
20 |
Edgewood |
The Mustangs will be coming into this season off great 20-6 record and new head, Matt Wadsworth. They lose six outgoing seniors to graduation but return their top two scorers. The top player for Edgewood will be Trevor Taylor (18.7 ppg, 4.7 rpg), who is one of the top shooting guard prospects in the state. Their other returning lead scorer is long forward Coleman Sater (11.5 ppg, 6.9 rpg). Look for a player like Derek Farkas (5.0 ppg) to take big step forward this season. Though there may be some questions regarding the frontcourt this year, the Mustangs should be one of the favorites to win a competitive Sectional. |
21 |
Hammond |
Hammond will be one of the teams really relying on their young roster but do have some key pieces returning in Michael Anderson, Reggie Abram, and Harold Woods. They have a deep young group of freshman coming in as well with Ja’Khorion Jones, DeSean Foster, and Vince Overshown. They are going to be tested this season as they play a little bit of everyone but if by the end of the year, the young guys can step up, this team has size and some scoring ability but maybe not the depth yet, they could be interesting. This is a team that just needs time. |
22 |
Leo |
The Lions will be coming off a bad record of 8-13 but are looking to improve tremendously this upcoming season. This year’s team will be led by strong, lengthy senior Andrew Tkacz and great junior point guard Blake Davison. There will also be a pair of 2022 prospects, forwards Luke LaGrange and D.J. Allen, that will be bringing in their upside and will be looking to breakout this year as well. This Leo team is bringing back some incredible talent. This is a team that can go and play with almost anyone. Look for the Leo Lions the be the favorites in their Sectional bracket. This team should one of the more improved teams this season. |
23 |
Beech Grove |
Last year was heartbreak for Beech Grove who lost their long time head coach Matt English to brain cancer. But Mike Renfro took over and really seemed to not lose a beat. Now, a full year removed from that, Beech Grove brings in a roster of very interesting talent. Vin Pich, Isaac Stennett, Jadyn Curry, Jajuan Allison, Gus Chikamba, and transfer Brice Langford. If Langford is eligible, that gives them a 6’9 post presence with a host of guards that can all shoot and have some athleticism. As we write this, 24 might really be low if this all comes together just right. With a very easy Sectional relative to previous years, don’t be shocked if this team makes a Semistate run this year. |
24 |
Bishop Luers |
The Knights will be coming off a terrible 4-18 record and close Sectional loss to Heritage coming into this season. This team will looking to improve greatly and has a very good chance to do so with the amount of talent they have coming back. Players like Demarcus Hudson (17.0 ppg), Naylon Thompson (15.0 ppg) and Jalen Causey (11.3 ppg) will be the leaders of this squad. Look for big men John Peterson (6.1 ppg) and Nicholas Thompson (4.0 ppg) to breakout and be a factor in the post area. This is a very complete team top-to-bottom. There should be no doubt that this year’s team will be better than last year’s team and should be one of the favorites to win their Sectional. This team has a great opportunity to make one of the biggest turnarounds in the state. |
25 |
Batesville |
Batesville is one of those teams led by coach Aaron Garrett that just brings back guys and competes each and every year. They have a talent pipeline that can keep them in play every year. Senior guard Colt Meyer is back with his 14.3 points per game and should be very difficult to play against. They might have lost some size but their team is almost going to entirely be built on seniors and juniors. Look for this team to be in the mix in every game this season. |
26 |
Evansville Memorial |
The Tigers will be coming into this upcoming season off a 16-10 record and Sectional Championship to add to it. They will, however, lose a really talented outgoing senior class that was crucial to their success last season. The good news is that they return their second lead scorer, Cade Graham (13.8 ppg). This prospect is one the top wing shooters in the state and will be looking to have a monster senior year. Look for players like Justin Waiz (6.3 ppg) and Danny Dixon (4.5 ppg) to step up and take some pressure off Graham. There are some roles that will need to be figured out this season with one of the main roles being the post presence. If this team can figure out who will fill what roles, this is a well-coached team that has a chance to upset Heritage Hills and repeat a Sectional Tittle. |
27 |
Cardinal Ritter |
Cardinal Ritter is coming off one of the better seasons they have had in a while going 16-9. Now, they have graduated the majority of their core that had been together for a few years now. The only one that is left is Damon Ogletree, a 6’6 forward who can be the difference maker this season. He was their 2nd leading scorer and rebounder last season. Aidan Cannon and Will Sandifer will be the two backcourt pieces to watch here. If they can get up to speed, Ritter’s schedule and Sectional finally got a ton easier. Sneaky team to watch come February. |
28 |
West Lafayette |
Coming off a capturing their 13th Sectional Title in school history, the Red Devils will be looking to repeat a great season. They have a really good chance to do so as they return an experienced roster. Karlaftis is a 6’4 power forward that is very physical and can flat-out get buckets. In the backcourt, there is senior guard Tyler Boyle (7.9 ppg), who is a true combo guard that can score in multiple ways. Look for senior Harrison Truitt (7.6 ppg, 4.2 rpg) to have breakout season as well. This squad has incredible talent coming back and one of the best frontcourts in Indiana. The Red Devils have a great opportunity to repeat as Sectional Champs. |
29 |
Bishop Chatard |
Bishop Chatard is under a new head coach and looking to get moving in the right direction with a big senior class that should provide a bunch of help. Edreece Redmond, Sam Richey, and Tim McNeils should be the upperclassmen to provide leadership but look for guys like Brennan Beausir, Charleston Bowles, and Noah Carter to give this team depth. It has been since 2011-12 that Bishop Chatard has won 15 or more games and made a run in Sectionals. With a different look in Sectionals, they could make a run now. |
30 |
New Castle |
The Trojans will be coming off a sub-par record of 13-11 and close Sectional loss to Delta heading into this season. They will already face some challenges as they also lose their top four scorers do to graduation, one being 31.2 ppg stud Luke Bumbalough. They will need lots of players to breakout this season like junior guard Cole McDaniel (3.3 ppg). Also look for players likes forwards William Grieser (1.6 ppg, 2.3 rpg) and Collin Blessinger (1.3 ppg) to step up and be leaders on the court. The is a team that is going to need to find ways to make-up 31.2 ppg that they have lost already. Though all signs seems to pointing towards a down year, this is a squad that has the talent that can step up and shock some people. Look for the is well-coached team to make the necessary adjustments and make some noise come Sectional. |
31 |
Scottsburg |
Last year was a little bit of a resurgence from Scottsburg. They hadn’t won 15 games since 2014-15 and had really struggled in between. Now, led by sophomore Hayden Cutter, Scottsburg is back. Nic Sebastiao and Cutter will be a dynamic duo this year in 3A and this could be the breakout year. #32 might be low. Their schedule lines up to give them tests throughout but look for the Bedford North Lawrence tournament to be the barometer. Get a win or two from Bloomington North, New Palestine, or Fishers and they should be in business. They might be the second best team in that Sectional. |
32 |
Lawrenceburg |
Coming off a bad 7-17 record and Sectional loss to Rushville, this Lawrenceburg team will return a varsity experienced group. However, even with all that experience, the Tigers are shaping up to be a one man team as of right now. Senior point guard Gavin Yoon will likely be the main focus this year for this squad. This athletic scorer averaged an outstanding 19.5 ppg last season. Look for a player like younger brother, Garrett Yoon (6.2 ppg), to step up and take some scoring pressure off of his older brother. This is a guard heavy team that is going to need to find guys to step up this season. One of the questions remaining is just who exactly is going to provide the post presence and resounding? Lots of questions and roles will need to be addressed before Sectional time. The Tigers may be in a loaded Sectional, but if Gavin Yoon can get some help from his experienced team, this is a squad that can shock some folks. |
33 |
Indianapolis Manual |
Indianapolis Manual is typically a team that has a new player or two every year. This year, they have a guy in Jacques Brandon who was pretty impressive late in the year as a 6’6 forward that could do a lot of things. While they lose a ton of seniors from last year’s group, they do bring in guys like Aaron Clark, a 5’11 junior guard, Antoine Hurns, a 6’6 forward, and Mark Grady, a 6’6 forward. That is a lot of size and skill for a team that looks like they might have paired down their schedule a bit. |
34 |
Fort Wayne Concordia |
Coming off a mediocre 12-11 record and tough Sectional loss to Angola, the Cadets will looking to improve this season. To help with their overall improvement, they return a heavy senior class that has a good amount of varsity experience. All eyes this year will be on Brayden Pearson, who is a senior shooting guard that averaged 13.4 ppg last season. Pearson should be their top player as he is the returning lead scorer and and is a fantastic defender as well. Senior guard Jeren Kindig (2.8 ppg), will be looking to improve his scoring and passing this year as he will need to breakout and be one of the main players for the Cadets. On top of that, lots of JV players will need to come in and fill some crucial roles on varsity. In order to compete in Sectional with a team like Angola, Fort Wayne Concordia will need to figure out its identity, which they can do with great players like Pearson and Kindig leading them. |
35 |
Lebanon |
Lebanon isn’t losing a ton from last year, just Alex Smith and Jaden Jarrett. Their team was a little younger than normal with guys like Hunter Crew and Kobe Ottinger playing some significant minutes. But, Luke Ferrell and Carson Burtron are both now seniors and have taken some big steps forward in their play. They also have another solid incoming freshman class that will add some size and depth. This could be a surprising team this year but they did move Sectionals where they will now have to play Brebeuf Jesuit, Guerin Catholic, and Bishop Chatard. Watch out for that. |
36 |
Crawfordsville |
Coming off a great record of 18-7 and tough overtime Sectional loss to Greencastle, the Athenians return a very experienced varsity group. Crawfordsville will be likely led by junior small forward Jesse Johnson-Hall (15.0 ppg, 7.7 rpg). This 6’6 prospect is truly a great player all-around and should be one of the top 2021 players in Indiana after this season. Senior point guard Karsten Williamson (10.0 ppg, 5.7 apg), who is an extremely good passer, will also be another leader for this squad. Look for great scoring senior guard Tray Scorza (9.4 ppg) to have a breakout season as well. This should still be a tough team to beat like last year. The Golden Bears are in a loaded Sectional but do have a good chance to make it to Regionals. |
37 |
Washington |
Coming off an impressive 16-9 record followed by a blowout loss to Princeton the Sectional Championship, the Hatchets return a loaded squad. Their backcourt will consist of senior guards Grant Niehous, who has incredible length, and Kyle Mason, who is a fantastic defender. Their frontcourt will be controlled by sophomore power forwards Trey Reed, who protects the paint on defense at 6’5, and Julius Hardiman, who is a very athletic big man. With the impressive team that Washington has coming into this season, they should be one of the favorites, along with Princeton, to win their Sectional. |
38 |
Tri-West |
Coming off a 10-13 record, three of the top four scorers for the Bruins will be returning this upcoming season. This is going to be a mature team that has lots of varsity experience. All eyes will be on junior guard Luke Robertson (10.1 ppg, 4.0 apg, 5.1 rpg), who was arguably their best overall player last year. The other two returning scorers are Taylor Gardner (10.2 ppg) and Dawson Wolfe (9.9 ppg, 3.5 rpg), both who are stud guards/forwards who will be crucial for the team’s success this season. Overall, it will be extremely hard for this squad to come out of a loaded Sectional if the entire team does not take step a forward this year. Can Tri-West return to being a dominant program? They have the talent to certainly do so. |
39 |
NorthWood |
The Panthers are coming off a 10-13 record and Sectional loss to Tippecanoe Valley heading into this season. They will be without one of their top players last year, Nick Bean, who one of their best scorers last season. However they do bring back a couple of standouts such as junior Ben Vincent and senior Trent Edwards, both who were two of the Panthers’ top three scorers a season ago. NorthWood is a team that competes every year. In order for them to continue that trend, they will need for more guys to step up this season. Consider them to be one of the favorites to win their Sectional this year. |
40 |
Western |
The Panthers will be coming off a 13-10 record and close Sectional loss to Maconaquah. All eyes this year should be on junior guard Kyle Sanders. Sanders is a tough-minded guard and does not back from anybody. He will also likely be the leader of the team both on and off the court. Look for 6’3 forward Kace Howard and 6-4 forward Parker Dean to be the main men down low and provide the much-needed post presence. The team as a whole plays extremely hard. They are in a very competitive Sectional with teams like Benton Central and West Lafayette still being he top dogs. If Western can determine what their identity is and be competitive throughout the season, they could shock the state and make it out of Sectional. |
41 |
Mississinewa |
Coming off a record of 12-10, the Indians will be looking to build off that this season. They have a great opportunity to do so as they will return their top three scorers. All eyes this year will be on 6-4 junior forward Tai Mcclung (15.0 ppg, 6.2 rpg), who will be the top scoring option this season. Look for lights-out shooter Landen Swanner (12.2) to continue to provide the perimeter scoring. To complete the Indians “big three” is dynamic point guard Anthony Horton who averaged 11.7 ppg and led the team in assists at 4.3 apg. Mississinewa is retuning one of the overall best players packages in the state. Look for this team to take the next step forward and be dominate this upcoming season. The Indians are a dark horse to win a loaded Sectional. |
42 |
Northview |
Even though the Knights had a terrible record last season at 6-17, they do return six out of their top seven scorers for this year. Northview will be led by 6-3 junior forward Caleb Swearingen (14.5 ppg, 3.6 rpg) who will need to add more muscle in order to complement his great shooting ability. Also look for senior big men Cade Bryan (12.5 ppg, 6.4 rpg) and Carson Gettle (11.2 ppg) to step up and take on bigger role in the post. Their Sectional will be tough to come out of as they will have to go through Brownstown Central and Edgewood. Overall this is a big squad who has a chance to really improve in the regular season. Their size will make it harder for teams to score with ease. |
43 |
Jimtown |
After coming off a solid 13-10 record, Jimtown will have 8 incoming seniors that will make up most of this year’s squad. Most eyes will be locked on 6-7 big man, Preston Phillips. This senior is one of the most well-rounded talents in the state with his incredible pass accuracy and presence down low both offensively and defensively. This is a very physical team and has an incredible chance to have a much better regular season even with great teams such as Mishawaka Marian and South Bend Washington still in their Sectional. This will be a very mature team with the talent to lead them to success at the same time. Look out for the Jimmies this upcoming season. |
44 |
Twin Lakes |
The Indians will be coming off a 13-12 record with five of their top seven scorers returning this upcoming season. Out of those five returning scorers, they will be led by two standout seniors. Those seniors are smart point guard Ben Houser (9.7 ppg, 3.6 apg) and aggressive power forward Jace Stoops (7.8 ppg, 6.6 rpg). While those two may be the main focus, look for lengthy sophomore point guard Clayton Bridwell (5.1 ppg) to make a major leap forward this year. With what the Indians have returning, they should be on the right track to have a much-improved regular season. Their Sectionals will be a tough road with Benton Central and Northwestern in the forefront but, look for Twin Lakes to turn some heads this year. |
45 |
Rushville |
Coming off a lackluster 9-15 record, the Rushville Lions will be looking to have a bounce back season. They return two of their top four scorers with senior guard Logan Graddy (12.8 ppg) and senior forward Evan Elmore (6.9 ppg), both slated to lead the team in scoring. The Lions will also need for stud sophomore guard Alec Evans (5.4 ppg) and senior guard Eric Brown (4.0 ppg) to step up and both have breakout seasons. The regular season does provide some opportunity for improvement, but it will be their Sectional where they will be truly tested with reigning champion Batesville and highly skilled Greensburg looking to make some noise. Rushville has all the ingredients to have a special season, it will just depend on what their key players can do. |
46 |
Monrovia |
Monrovia is coming off one of the best seasons in recent memory as they went 19-7 and made it to Regionals. They do lose Max Newman and that will hurt but the emergence of Josh Smith as a high-end scoring threat should help to stem things while guys like Joe Williams and some of the younger talent gets used to Varsity. In 3A, this team should be competitive and especially within their Sectional with Danville, Greencastle, and Tri-West. We know Smith will be able to match or improve his production from last season but there are still quite a few new players that need to step up for this team to keep their streak of 15 or more wins going. |
47 |
Boonville |
Boonville is coming off a terrible 5-19 record where most of their talent were outgoing seniors. The bright spot for The Pioneers is that they return 6’5” forward Hunter Bruce, that can not only provide post play but is a solid shooting presence as well. If The Pioneers want to show great signs of improvement, they will need for sophomore Devin Mockobee, who is an athletic forward that is great defensively, to step up and improve in the scoring department. With a schedule that is as tough as it was season ago, Boonville will need to improve in almost every aspect of the game if they want to have a chance to make it out of their sectional that is tough from top to bottom. If Bruce and Mockobee play to their potential, watch out for this team. |

Indian Creek |
Indian Creek has won more than 14 games each season for the past 5 years. Now, they are graduating four players from last year’s team but a good chunk of the size and talent is returning. Look for Ethan Williams as a potential standout this year as a long, lean scoring wing. If Junior Christian Wiseman can really step up his game as a 6’8 post, that could go a long way for this team. Their Sectional is quite a bit easier this year with only really Beech Grove and Ritter set to be good, they could sneak through into the next round. |

Woodlan |
“Coming off a relatively underwhelming first season with their new coaching staff, expectations are a little higher as this Woodlan team returns all but one player from their roster. This is a team that has youth and high-end talent with some good size and now, backed by standout sophomore Joe Reidy, they should be in position to rack up some wins. Looking for their first Sectional title since 2013, Woodlan and seniors Ben Reidy, Aiden Bayman, Mitch Mendenhall, and Trevor Wiedenhoeft are looking for their most success to date. |

John Glenn |
Last year, John Glenn was only able to get to 10-13 but the Bi-County Tournament and had a ton of momentum in the beginning of the year. They ended poorly losing 7-straight games. However, they bring back a ton of pieces including 6’8 Khori Baker and senior Robby Porter. Carter Yung also returns as their top overall scoring threat. They only lost one significant scorer so if they can correct whatever issues they had down the stretch last year, this could be a team to watch. |
