2A |
Breakdown |
1 |
Blackhawk Christian |
Last year, Blackhawk Christian won the 1A State Championship in pretty dominating fashion. They were as talented a 1A team as you were ever going to find. Now, they have moved up to 2A but expectations remain in place. They lost a couple talented players including Frankie Davidson but return standout Caleb Furst and Zane Burke. Add in transfer Luke LaGrange and junior Marcus Davidson and you have enough shooting ability and plenty of size all around the floor. This team should put up some crazy numbers this season and along with Andrean, should be the two teams to watch in 2A from the jump. |
2 |
Andrean |
The Fighting 59ers are heading into this season as the reigning Class 2A State Champions. To add to that, they only lose one of their top five scorers from last years championship squad. All eyes again this season will be on to the tremendous junior trio Kyle Ross (16.9 ppg), Nick Flesher (9.0 ppg), and Ben Jones IV (7.0 ppg). Look for 2020 prospect Eric Goodes to provide the senior leadership and 2022 prospect Gabriel Gillespie to have huge breakout season. Andrean has the potential, the talent, and leadership to realistically repeat as 2A State Champions. Should be another exciting, winning season for the Andrean Fighting 59ers. |
3 |
Shenandoah |
Shenandoah is one of the more well coached teams you are going to find. They have a ton of talent and they are nearly all Juniors this year. They have the depth you want with guys like Jakeb Kinsey, Peyton Starks, Andrew Bennett, Kam Graddy, Kaden McCollough, and Colton Monday. They have enough size for 2A to make a run and plenty of scoring options to boot. This is a team that only has 1-2 games this year that look like trouble. If they make it through New Pal and Fishers early in December, this team could go undefeated during the regular season. |
4 |
Linton-Stockton |
The Miners are coming into this new season off a 27-4 season and were just 6 points away from winning State. This team will be looking to avenge their loss and will be led by top prospect Lincoln Hale. Hale has a wide range of skills and is a great shooter when he is able to get a shot off. Even though Linton-Stockton’s season ended in such heartbreak, this is a team that will be up for the challenge of making it back to the State Finals. Expect Hale and Coach Joey Hart to again have this team ready to go and look to win their first State Championship in school history. |
5 |
University |
University is looking like a true contender even after moving up to 2A this year. Had they been in 1A, they might have been 1 or 2 in the class. They have some size all up and down their roster with guys like Larry Pierce and Camden Brown and lots of shooting potential in Sam Mervis, Max Greenamoyer, and Joe Martin. They are built on veteran talent and have a schedule that will test them and give them some confidence heading into the late season. Their Sectional is not easy with Heritage Christian, Covenant Christian, and Park Tudor but if they get through that, things might be a bit easier. |
6 |
Paoli |
The Rams are coming off a great 23-4, Sectional Championship season. All eyes for the Rams will locked on extremely tough-minded prospect, junior power forward Brett Bosley. Bosley will be looking to have a monster junior season and will have great talent around him like Aron Busick, Hobie Bobbitt, and Zane Anderson. Because of this team’s size, opposing teams will have tough matchup problems. This year’s squad will be looking to prove that last season’s lackluster post-season run was a fluke. Expect Paoli to be on of the most dominate teams in 2A and rack up more than just a Sectional Championship. |
7 |
Southridge |
Southridge was one of the teams to really benefit from realignment as they dropped from 3A to 2A and now sit in a position to make a great run this year. They have a strong roster led by Junior standout Colson Montgomery. They also have guys like Garrett Voegerl, Sam Sermersheim, Carter Whitehead, and Kaden Neukam coming back. Colson averaged 21.1 points and 6.6 rebounds last year so he will be able to bring that to the table. Also, their Sectional is now much, much easier with really only Mater Dei and Forest Park as the two teams to worry about at the beginning of the year. |
8 |
Westview |
The Warriors of Westview are heading into this season as Sectional Champs and off a great 25-6 record. This squad was one win away from making it to Semi-State so they will be looking to avenge that. They will be led by stud small forward Charlie Yoder, who is a very efficient scorer. Look for Drew Litwiller and Jordan Schrock to help take some pressure off Yoder this season. Looking at Westview’s schedule, it is one of the easiest in 2A. This team will be well-coached like always and should easily get past Sectional and have a really good chance to win their Regional. |
9 |
Southwestern-Hanover |
Southwestern is in the middle of one of their best runs in school history. Over the last two years, they have won 49 games to just 5 losses and have back-to-back Sectional Championships. While the loss of Tyler Kramer and Hunter Mefford does hurt their depth, they bring back most of their offense including Matt Williams and Foster Mefford. This was a very balanced and system-run offense so it might be next-man-up time and they have enough pieces to make a run in 2A. While Southridge, Linton-Stockton, and Paoli are also in the South in 2A, their Sectional isn’t too difficult and helps them get off to a quick start. |
10 |
Wapahani |
The Raiders are coming off a great 17-7 record but with a tough Sectional Final loss to Frankton to add to it. They head into this without losing much talent-wise. Wapahani returns their top two scorers along with a roster full of experience. The team will be led by guard duo Andrew Luce (14.6 ppg) and David Spence III (12.5), which might be the best backcourt in 2A this season. Add in some good players like Evan Rausch and Braxton Davis, you have a really talented squad. Expect them to get over the hump and make a deep post-season run. |
11 |
Wabash |
The Apaches of Wabash are heading into this season off a 21-5 season and Sectional Championship. To make things even better, they return three of their top four scorers. The leader of this team will be senior point guard Trenton Daughtry (18.7 ppg, 5.3 rpg), who is a tough-minded player. Look for guard Dereck Volgel (8.2 ppg, 4.2 rpg) and forward Elijah Vander (7.5 ppg, 6.3 rpg) to make the leap forward this year. This team crashes the glass extremely well. Even though players will need to step up their scoring a little bit, this could be another great year for Coach Paul Wright’s team. |
12 |
Heritage Christian |
Heritage Christian is coming off a 19-6 season and a Sectional Championship. However, they are going to be replacing a ton with Will Christie and Andrew Williams now graduated. Harrison Eckels, J.T. Turner and some of their size returns as well as adding incoming freshman Myles Colvin who will be one of the best in the state this year. They might take a minute to gel but this is a program and a team that always seems to be going at full speed at the end of the year. Their Sectional is now much more difficult, maybe one of the toughest in 2A with Park Tudor, University, and Covenant Christian in it. It will take an upset or two to make a run but this is a team that has that in their bag. |
13 |
Churubusco |
The Eagles are coming off a .500 record of 12-12 and return a top scorer and other good talent heading into this season. The top scorer returning is playing making guard that can score, Jackson Paul (17.9 ppg, 5.4 rpg). Look for guards Lake Mcclure (8.2 ppg) and Gage Kelly (6.5 ppg) to step-up and have breakout seasons. This is one of the smaller teams in 2A but plays quick and tough. Come Sectional time, along with Central Noble, expect the Eagles to be a favorite to play in Regional. |
14 |
Central Noble |
Look out for Central Noble in the coming years. They are loading up on talent and although losing Ridley Zolman is going to hurt, they have plenty left in the tank. Connor Essegian has emerged as a possible DI talent from the small, rural 2A program. Add in Lucas Deck who just committed to Indiana Tech, and junior Saywer Yoder and you have a trio that should put up some big production this year.Their Sectional won’t be easy with Fairfield, Churubusco, Prairie Heights, and Westview but look for them to be in the mix all year long. |
15 |
Park Tudor |
The Panthers will be heading into this season off a great 16-7 record last year. This team will be looking to get back to championship glory and they certainly have the talent to do so. Look for leaders of this year’s squad to be big man J.C. Glenn and great shooter Elijah Shelton. Also look for breakout seasons from starters Malachi Archey and Ronald Johnson along with sophomore stud Jordan Bowles. This is a more mature team than it was last year. Park Tudor has pretty much the same schedule and will be in a tough Sectional Bracket. Look for this talented team to make some noise this season. |
16 |
Lapel |
Lapel has been a staple of consistency over the last decade plus. Head coach Jimmie Howell has a pair of state championships since 2004-05 and he has a roster that returns quite a bit. They lose their best player in Luke Richardson but there is plenty to work with here. They return 5 of their top 6 scorers from last year including Carson Huber, Cole Alexander, and Noah Frazier. They have an absolute tons of size as well. Don’t be shocked if they end up a Top 5 team in 2A before the Christmas break. |
17 |
Frankton |
As one of the reigning 2A Regional Champs, the Eagles will be coming off a great 25-4 record heading into this season. However, they lose a heavy amount of talented outgoing seniors. Look for this team to be led by tough defender Ethan Bates. Forward Ayden Brobston and a bunch of solid JV guys will be looking to step up and provide important varsity minutes. The Frankton Eagles’ schedule is one of the more favorable ones this season. This team will be extremely well-coached and be a favorite in a competitive Sectional. |
18 |
Blackford |
Blackford will have one of the best scorers we have seen in a while in their backcourt in Luke Brown. He’s setup to have a massive season. But he has a little help this year maybe more so than in the past two. Looks for guys like Brandon Stroble and Dalton Willmann to step up along with a pair of interesting freshman. Dayton Hoover and Dawson Hundley are both capable of helping the now 2A program step up in a better spot. Blackford has gotten some wins during the regular season over the last two years but can’t breakthrough in the Sectional. Now, moving down, they get an easier road but will still have Tipton staring at them. |
19 |
Tipton |
The Blue Devils are heading into this season off a great 17-4 record but tough Sectional loss to Madison-Grant to add to that The good news is that they return a great group of talent led by awesome 6’6 power forward Ben Humrichous. Humrichous has a great supporting cast such as brothers Jayce and Sam Edwards. Look for an athlete like Drew Pearce to have a breakout season. This squad for Tipton has a chance to repeat a great regular season. Look for them to be the favorites to win their Sectional and go on a deeper post-season run than expected. |
20 |
Covenant Christian |
Covenant Christian is coming off a mediocre year going 12-12 but ended the year well and lost in the Sectional finals to Monrovia. Now, they are bringing back their backcourt in Noah Hedrick and Trey Flatt along with their Top 5 scorers. Only Gus Chikamba is transferring out. With that being said, this is a team that should be able to take a step forward as both Hedrick and Flatt have improved over the last year. However, their Sectional got loaded as Park Tudor and University are both elite this season in 2A so a little luck and some toughness will be needed. One of the toughest Sectionals in 2A this year. |
21 |
Indianapolis Howe |
The Hornets are coming into this season off a solid 17-6 record but with a tough Sectional Championship loss to add to that. They do, however, return a really good crop of talent. They leader of this team will undoubtedly be 6’2 senior small forward Dashon Scott. Look for good players like Charley Sykes, Quincy Henry, TyRon Bradley, and others to be great compliment players for Scott. It will be interesting to see how first year head coach DeAndre Brock does with this very talented team. Look for Indianapolis Howe to one of the favorites, along with Covenant Christian and Heritage Christian, to win a 2A Sectional Tittle. |
22 |
Crawford County |
Crawford County has been one of the more under-the-radar teams in the Southern part of the state. They went 20-6 last year and outside of 2017-18 when they won 10 games, they have won at least 14 each season since 2009-10. They have some solid size and veterans returning including Colten Nickerson who was really good last season as a 6’4 wing. Him and Preston Coleman will be the two returning seniors to keep your eyes on as they look to get back to 20-wins and make it out of a tough Sectional with Paoli and Tell City. |
23 |
Winamac |
The Warriors of Winamac will be heading into this upcoming season coming off a great 18-6 record. The bad news about this upcoming season is that they will be without a loaded senior class from last year. They will rely on guard Will Larkin (14.0 ppg) to have a monster senior year. This great defender and shooter will be without question the leader of this year’s squad. Look for a player like 6’3 guard Tyson Johnson to make the leap forward and be a crucial player for the Warriors. They will need JV players to come and provide important varsity minutes especially in the frontcourt. With that said, they will be the favorites in a fairly easy Sectional. |
24 |
Evansville Mater Dei |
Mater Dei is in a spot where they might have lost their most impactful seniors in Logan Carter and Zach Schoenstein but they have a ton of talent still in tack. Alex Money, Jackson Heister, and Tyler Phelps make Mater Dei maybe the tallest teams in 2A going 6’5, 6’4, and 6’7. The biggest issue will be more about which guards can step in to help get these guys the ball. Mater Dei went 17-8 last season but were not able to get out of Sectionals which were loaded. Things didn’t get easier as Southridge moved into their Sectional but they should be right there with them. |
25 |
Fairfield |
The Falcons will heading into this season coming off a solid 15-8 record. They will already face some challenges as they will lose a laded senior class that made-up most of their talent a season ago. They will be led by stud senior point guard Nolin Sharick (12.9 ppg, 3.3 apg, 3.7 rpg). Sharick is an outstanding prospect that is an extremely good shot creator. Look for players like guard Cade Gall (3.4 ppg) and forward Braedon Helms (1.1 ppg) to step up and make some improvements in their game. This should be a well-coached team with Coach Randy DeShone bringing in his expertise in his first year as Fairfield’s new head coach. The talent they have back should be experienced enough to compete in a very competitive Sectional. |
26 |
LaVille |
Over the last few years, LaVille has been causing a ruckus with their winning streaks. They won 23 straight before losing their only game in 2017-18 against Westview in Sectionals. Last year, they started off the year going 8-0 but were bounced in Sectionals again. Their team returns some upperclassmen but they lose their top three scorers. However, Sectional realignment has moved Westview out and should give them a better chance at the end of the season. |
27 |
Cloverdale |
The Clovers will be looking to improve tremendously as they will be coming into this season off a bad 10-14 record and blowout Sectional loss to Monrovia. Cloverdale does however return a solid group of talent. They will be led by 6’1 sophomore shooting guard Kyle Thomas (17.1 ppg). This smooth scorer will be looking to build off of his incredible freshman campaign and look to be on the top guards in the state. Look for junior guard Nolan Kelly (7.7 ppg) to take a leap forward and distribute the ball better this year as well. This is a squad that will need some JV guys to come in and fill some roles. With that said, look for this year’s team to still be one of the favorites in their Sectional. |
28 |
Northeastern |
Brent Ross and company were able to make a big run last year especially at the end of the season going all the way to Regional Finals and winning 15 of their last 18 games. They bring back a ton and should be one of the tougher teams in the state this year with guys like Kolden Vanlandingham and Carter Lumpkin leading the way. They have to replace the role players in Mikesell, Fisher, Hancock, and White, the four outgoing seniors that were their #3-#6 scorers. That won’t be easy. |
29 |
Tell City |
The Marksmen are heading into this season off an amazing record of 21-6. They will also be coming into this season as the reigning Sectional Champion in their region. However, they take a huge hit as they lose their top five scorers from last season do to graduation. Those outgoing seniors made-up a huge chunk of their talent so guys are going to need to step-up. Players like Devin Pruitt (1.2 ppg) and Kaden Chestnut (1.1 ppg) to make huge strides and fill important roles. Also look for a player like Dylan Mathena (1.5 ppg) to breakout and bring in some huge varsity minutes. Though they may have lots of roles and situations that need to figured out, this is a well-coached team. This is a team that has a chance to find their identity quick and compete in tough sectional. Tell City has a chance to repeat a Sectional Championship. |
30 |
Prairie Heights |
Prairie Heights is coming off a 20-6 record last year, one of the better ones in recent memory. They got all the way to the Sectional Finals but were not able to overcome Westview. But, they might be one of the more veteran groups in the area after they return their Top 3 scorers who average a combined 40.0 ppg. Elijah Malone is starting to get some traction as a player to watch this year as a 13.5 point and 9.8 reb per game post player. Their Sectiona is still tough with teams like Westview, Churubusco, Fairfield, and Central Noble but PH might be able to make their best run yet. |
31 |
Westville |
The Blackhawks will be coming into this season off a 10-13 record a season ago. To add to a bad record, they will also lose a loaded outgoing senior class that provided a lot oft heir talent last season. They do return two great studs in Josh DeChantal and Jace Woods. DeChantal is 6’4 atheltic guard that runs the floor very well for his size. Wood, on the other hand, is a lengthy guard that sees the court extremely well and makes smart decisions with the ball. Look for players like Carlin Young and Alec Hannon to step up this year and provide some valuable minutes. Even though they will need lots of JV guys to fill some huge roles, they return some good pieces. Look for them to be one the favorites along with LaVille and North Judson come Sectional. |
32 |
Adams Central |
Adams Central is coming off their first winning season in a few years going 14-11. Now they are looking to make it back-to-back years. Their roster does have some turnover but they do get some luck here with their schedule. It isn’t terribly difficult with only Blackhawk, Leo, Norwell, and Churubusco being some of the more difficult games. They lost some size but expect freshman Trent Jesinowski to step into that post player role for them. They also return Nick Dague, Lucas Van De Weg, and Chase Murray from last year’s group. |
33 |
Fort Wayne Canterbury |
The Cavaliers are coming off an awful record of 6-14 and close Sectional loss to Eastside entering this upcoming season. The good news for this team is that they return their top four scorers. They will be led by junior guard Will Shank (14.8 ppg, 5.5 rpg), who has incredible court vision and scoring ability. Alongside Shank will be confident shooter Noah Drapala (12.7 ppg). Look for 3rd and 4th returning scorers Holidey Stephenson (5.6 ppg, 4.2 rpg) and Chris Diwis (4.9 ppg, 3.8 rpg) to both have a breakout season and contribute even more. This is a small team that is going to rely on quickness and shooting in order to play with the larger teams they may face. If this squad can play to their strengths and eliminate some weaknesses, they have a chance to compete come Sectional time. |
34 |
Alexandria |
Alexandria is coming off a great 19-8 season under new head coach Marty Carroll. They are setup here with their schedule to be nearing that again. While they did lose a key senior in Avery Paddock but he was only able to play 8 games before an injury took him out. Brennan Morehead returns as their leading scorer and look for guys like Rylan Metz and Nick Williams to impact type players this season. Having a Nick Williams-type, a 6’7 bruiser who can knock down triples, for a 2A team is a boon as a senior. |
35 |
South Knox |
The Spartans will be coming into this season off a fantastic 18-7 record last season. However, this is going to be a new look team as lots of their talent were outgoing seniors last year. Look for players like senior center Walker McCrary and senior small forward Justin Fickling to step-up and play some huge varsity minutes. McCrary is a powerful big man while his teammate Fickling is a really good finisher. There will need to be a lot of JV guys that will need to step-up and provide some quality minutes at the varsity level. With all that said, South Know should still be one of favorites, along with Linton-Stockton, to come out of their Sectional. |
36 |
South Spencer |
Even though South Spencer wasn’t able to get over .500 last year, there is a ton to expect out of this group this year. First off, Their schedule is always ridiculously difficult but it did get easier with Forest Park, Tell City, Princeton, and Evansville Day taking steps back. For a 2A schedule, theirs will be one of the tougher ones this year. Also, look at Jace Kelly, Kobe Bartlett, and Michael Donoho as the leaders this season. They lose a little bit of size but they are setup to have a strong backcourt with some shooters. |
37 |
Monroe Central |
The Monroe Central Golden Bears will becoming off a sub-par record of 12-11 heading into this season. They return standout sophomore, and lead scorer, Jackson Ullom (18.0 ppg, 3.3 apg, 2.4 rpg). All eyes this year will probably be on this fantastic combo guard, however, look for shifty senior guard Will Jones (13.2 ppg) and strong senior Forward/Wing Sam Feola (10.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg) to both have a breakout season. Also look for forwards Landan Patterson and Caleb Snyder to step up and provide huge varsity minutes. In order to improve this season, the Golden Bears must all take it to the next level and be ready to compete each and every game. |
38 |
Manchester |
The Squires are coming off a solid mediocre record of 14-11 and tough Sectional Championship loss to Wabash. That being said, Manchester will be returning a good crop of talent for this upcoming season. All eyes this year will be on stud junior guard Weston Hamby (15.6 ppg, 3.0 apg, 3.1 rpg). Hamby is a quick prospect that has great passing ability. Next to Hamby will be senior guard Thane Creager (8.3 ppg), who will the leader for this team. Look for senior center Kreeden Krall (2.0 ppg) to step up and provide a post presence. This is solid team that can improve even more from last year. They will have to be competitive if they are wanting to have a chance to escape a loaded Sectional. |
39 |
North Posey |
The Vikings are coming off a 8-17 record with a blowout loss to Tell City in Sectional to add to that. They will return a majority of their players so there is a lot of room for improvement this season. All eyes this season will be locked on the Ricketts brothers, Josiah and Johnathan. Josiah is a fantastic shooting guard who averaged 22.7 ppg last season. His younger brother Jonathan, sophomore center, will take care of the post as he averaged 9.9 ppg and 7.5 rpg. Look for senior point guard Camden Bender to step-up yet continue his great passing (4.4 apg) this upcoming season. This is a good team but needs to be more active on defense. With being in a loaded Sectional, defense should be the focus of improvement as the offense should already be solid. North Posey has a chance to be a special team this season |
40 |
Rossville |
Coming off an 18-5 record and Sectional loss to Delphi, the Hornets only return one of their top five scorers from last season. Luckily, that returning scorer, Dirk Shaw, is one of their top players form last year. Shaw is a 6’3 senior guard/forward that averaged 13.3 ppg and 5.8 rpg. He is a complete player but does most of his damage finishing at the rim as he does extremely well. Look for incoming juniors Damon Shaw (4.3 ppg) and Reid Douglas (2.7 ppg) to provide crucial varsity minutes this year. Rossville will need guys to step up this year. With that said and if Dirk Sahw can continue his tremendous play his senior year, look for Rossville to be one of the favoites to win their Sectional along with Clinton Prairie and Seeger. |
41 |
Lake Station |
The Fighting Eagles are coming off a great 17-7 record with most of their talent being seven outgoing seniors. They only return one of their top six scorers, 6’5 senior center Nate Duckich, who provides easy baskets down low. Averaging a double-double last year (14.3 ppg, 10.2 rpg), Duckich is going to be available piece for this new looking squad. Players like Dante Pritchett, Edwards Fragoso, and others are going to need to step up this year as there are a lot of roles to fill. For Lake Station to have a chance to repeat a great regular season and come out of a loaded Sectional, players are going to need take on larger roles. Along with that, the Fighting Eagles will need to feed Duckich as much as they can. |
42 |
Clarksville |
The Generals are coming off a horrid record of 6-17 from last season. They do, however, return their top three scorers so there is a chance they can improve this year. They will be led by athletic stud and junior guard Dae’von Fuqua, who led the team in scoring (18.3 ppg) and rebounding (7.0 rpg). To help take some scoring pressure off Fuqua is perimeter, sharp-shooter Keyshawn Minor (7.0 ppg), who will also provide his great defense as well. Clarksville will need for senior guard Kohe Quarles (6.0 ppg) to step up and proved some leadership for this team. While they are an extremely small team, they are one of the quickest teams in their conference. With that being said and who they have retuning, they should likely improve this season. |
43 |
Hammond Noll |
The Hammond Noll Warriors are coming off a solid 13-10 record with two of their top four scorers returning this upcoming season. This team will be led by three dynamic backcourt players. Those players are seniors Jack Reardon (7.4 ppg, 2.5 rpg), Troy Acree (7.2 ppg, 2.8 rpg), and Hunter Laurincik (7.0 ppg), who all have a “score first” mentality. Even though this team may be guard heavy, they crash the boards both offensively and defensively very well. They do have a chance to run into a buzzsaw come Sectional time, however, as their bracket is loaded with top teams. If the Warriors are going to want to compete with their loaded Sectional bracket, they must stick to how they play, which is being aggressive on both sides. |
44 |
North Decatur |
After coming off a solid 14-9 record and close Sectional loss to Milan, the Chargers return a loaded class of incoming seniors. They will be led by a great senior backcourt duo Garrett Wood and Craig Adams, who are both smart players that can also stroke it from behind the arc. Look for senior power forward Sean Means to be the main man in the post. This is an extremely guard heavy squad and they will need to answer a lot post questions. Even with the post concerns, they still should be one of the favorites to win their Sectional along with Milan. If this team can figure out their post needs, they could be one of the more dangerous squads this season. |
45 |
Oak Hill |
Oak Hill is coming off a 10-13 record and blowout loss to Wabash in Sectionals. The good news is that they return two of their top four scorers from last season. They will be led by senior shooting guard/small forward Taji Johnson (7.7 ppg, 3.4 rpg), who will do most of his damage on the defensive end. Look for junior center Tristen Hayes (6.0 ppg, 6.3 rpg) to make a leap forward and provide more post scoring. Also look for junior point guard Clay Mccorkle (2.9 apg) to be the one to make sure the ball is moving at a good pace. The Golden Eagles should be in for a better season all around. Though it is a competitive Sectional from top-to-bottom, do not be shocked to see Oak Hill come out of it. |
46 |
Henryville |
Though coming off a lackluster 10-14 record and a close Sectional loss to Paoli (56-54), the Hornets will be returning two of their top three scorers from a season ago. This year Henryville will be led by dynamic guard Cole Pirrman (8.2 ppg) and 6ft forward Westin Allen (8.8 ppg, 3.3 rpg). As far as someone who will need to step up, look for JV stud Taylor Guthrie (8.6 ppg) to be a big factor this year. With a regular season schedule looking almost the same, the Hornets have a very good chance to improve from a season ago. Their sectional will be tough with defending 2A Sectional Champs Southwestern (Hanover) standing in their way, however this team has a good crop of talent that can shock the state. |
47 |
North Judson |
North Judson will be coming off a 13-12 record and tough Sectional finals loss to Marquette Catholic. While most of their players last season where outgoing seniors, they do return a couple of studs that will help lead them this year. One of the leading scorers returning this year is senior guard Cooper Hochstedler. This young man is an absolute scoring and rebounding machine that averaged 16.8 ppg and 8.5 rpg a season ago. Dynamic sophomore guard Payton Cox (5.0 ppg) will also be looking to make a leap forward and take some pressure off Hochstedler. The Bluejays could be in for an improved regular season. Even with LaVille in their Sectionals, North Judson should be one of the favorites to come out of that bracket. |
48 |
Providence |
Providence is a very good program year in and year out but last year they were only able to get to 8-17. Now, they have a new head coach in Ryan Miller and will try and get back into a successful run. This times up well with a roster where they bring back everyone except outgoing Senior Hayden Burke. Look for guys like Austin Barnett and Sterling Huber. Huber should be the big time scoring threat this year and teams will have trouble trying to stop him. Give this team another year of development, a new head coach, and they could make it back deeper in March. |

North Putnam |
Last year wasn’t ideal for North Putnam but things could be looking up real soon for the program. Built around youth, they should be looking to sophomore Aaron Pickel to help lead the way. He’s coming off a freshman season where he posted 8.0 points and 2.2 rebounds as the second-leading scorer. Also, with a new head coach in Vince Brooks, he brings his son Mason Brooks who will bring some shooting and size to the team as a transfer from Westfield. With their schedule being quite down, only a couple major matchups, this is a team that could surprise and win a few games here. |

Whitko |
Last year, going 13-10, Whitko seemed to figure something out at the end going 11-3 in their last 14 games. Now, bringing back 3 of their top 4 scorers, they should have enough pieces to push forward led by junior Brent Sickafoose. Their schedule is a little bit easier as the typically tough teams they see will be down a bit but their are more quality teams to watch out for. If Drake Lewis and Clayton Ebbinghouse can join Sickafoose as a trio for this 2A team, don’t be shocked if they surpass their win total from last year. |
