Note: This list highlights prospects from the immediate DC Metro Area only.
DAOUDA DEMBELE | SPRINGBROOK (MD) ’21
Dembele, a robustly built 6-foot-6 forward, was among the league leaders in rebounding at the Capitol Hoops Summer League. His activity level on the offensive glass was particularly noteworthy. Dembele recorded 48 offensive rebounds, by far more than any other player. He will be a legit threat to record a double-double on a nightly basis.
HUNTER DICKINSON | DEMATHA (MD) ’20
At 7-foot-1, there just aren’t many who can match Dickinson’s size. His ability to rebound at a high-level will surely contribute to his team’s overall success. As a result, we expect Dickinson to record at least 10 boards per game.
DOWAR JIOKLOW | FLINT HILL (VA) ’20
Jioklow is establishing a reputation as a workhorse. He has the size, listed at 6-foot-8, and the will to become a highly productive rebounder.
AMANI HANSBERRY | ST. JOHN’S (DC) ’23
Hansberry will likely acquire a major role in the front-court for the Cadets. Based on what we’ve already seen, he should be able to put up huge numbers on the glass. It will be interesting to see how consistently Hansberry can do so considering the fact that he is just a freshman.
JAMEL MELVIN | POTOMAC SCHOOL (VA) ’20
Melvin was among the league leaders in rebounding at the Capitol Hoops Summer League. At 6-foot-9, he has the length to secure the ball off the rim whether in or out of his area. Given his massive role for the Panthers, Melvin should rebound at a high rate.
RASHAUDE OHIOKPEHAI | SURRATTSVILLE (MD) ’20
Ohiokpehai, a 6-foot-6 forward, was the leading rebounder at Capitol Hoops Summer League. He excelled on the defensive glass, pulling down more defensive rebounds than any other player. One thing he does well upon grabbing a board is initiating the break.
DAVID ONANINA | BISHOP O’CONNELL (VA) ’22
Onanina was one of six players to record at least 100 rebounds during the Capitol Hoops Summer League. At 6-foot-9, he has great size and will likely have a major role for the Knights. He is looking like the clear favorite to lead his team in boards this year.
DAVID SOLOMON | LAKE BRADDOCK (VA) ’22
Solomon, an athletic 6-foot-6 forward, is a terror on the offensive glass. He is a putback threat who will benefit from the fact that his team likes to push the pace and create as many possessions as possible. There is a chance that Coach Metress could switch up Braddock’s style of play, but Solomon is still likely to rebound at a high rate.
GARFIELD TURNER | COVENANT LIFE (MD) ’20
Turner, a workmanlike 6-foot-7 forward, has quickly established a reputation as one of the more forceful paint presences in the local 2020 glass. He should lead his team in rebounds by a wide margin.
CAM TWEEDY | WESTLAKE (MD) ’20
Tweedy, an athletic 6-foot-6 Loyola (MD) commit, was among the league leaders in rebounding at the Capitol Hoops Summer League. You can count on him to hit the boards actively for the Wolverines on a nightly basis.
STEPHAUN WALKER | COOLIDGE (DC) ’22
Walker averaged a double-double during his impressive freshman campaign. The 6-foot-7 forward has been a solid anchor for the Colts and should continue to rebound at a prolific level.
TERRANCE WILLIAMS | GONZAGA (DC) ’20
Williams has been a walking double-double since his freshman year. The 6-foot-7 Georgetown commit and All-Met First Teamer is a no brainer to be listed here.
