John Calipari has a long history of recruiting New Jersey talent such as Karl-Anthony Towns, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, and Isaiah Briscoe. Most recently, the Wildcats landed Khalil Whitney from Roselle Catholic and Ware will continue the tradition. Ware chose Kentucky from a final five that included Ohio State, Providence, Miami, and Michigan. The Wildcats were the clear-cut favorite to land Ware from when they offered him in July.
Ware averaged 11.7 points and 10.1 rebounds as a junior last season. This earned him First-Team All-Conference honors among others. Ware is an athletic player with excellent length and extreme bounce. At 6’9, Ware possesses incredible finesse as a player. He is not a great three-point shooter yet but that will come with time. Ware has the ability to stroke it from mid-range and get to the basket at will. The best part of his game is his nose for the ball. Ware can come up with a steal or block at any time.
Camden has a new coach for the 2019-2020 season with experience that can help Ware get to the next level. Rick Brunson was named the new coach at Camden High School. He is a nine-year NBA vet and father of current Dallas Mavericks guard and former Villanova standout Jalen Brunson. As a coach, Brunson has experience with four NBA teams. Adding him to the staff gives Camden immediately credibility. He will be important to teach and guide young players and show them the path they should take to accomplish their dreams.
The Olympic Conference will be on watch because of this impressive forward from Camden with incredible NBA potential. Keep an eye on Ware and his growth will be visible from his junior to senior season.
