There are tons of players around the state that can flat out ball. A lot of them don’t get recognition for their game. In this article PH takes a look at some of the under the radar seniors in Nevada.
Alijah Banks 5’8 PG Canyon Springs – Every team needs a player like Banks. He is an uber-competitive tempo changing guard. Banks is the emotional leader of a talented Canyon Springs squad. He doesn’t need the ball to affect the game. In fact if he wants the ball he’s liable to just take it from you. Banks is a ferocious on-ball defender who loves challenging ballhandlers full court. It’s an understatement to say that he is a high IQ player, Banks has a 3.8 and is focused on getting a business degree in college.
Demitri Clair 6’1 SG Foothill (#63 PHN 2020) – Clair is the emotional leader for Foothill. The 6’1 strongman dosen’t back down from anyone, and he helps continue the tradition the Falcons have built. He’s another senior that can affect the game without scoring. Clair will routinely defend the opposing team’s best offensive player. Although he is undersized, he does a terrific job of scoring down low and rebounding over larger players.
Mehki Walker 6’4 PF Cimarron (#37 PHN 2020) – It’s hard to call Walker under the radar, however, I get the feeling not a lot of people know about him. He is the unquestioned leader of a rugged Cimarron team. Walker is the team’s best scoring and rebounding option. One of the main reasons I consider him under the radar is because he has a chance to put up monster numbers this season, and I don’t think many around the state realize it.
Michael Martin 6’2 PF Spring Valley – Pound for pound perhaps the toughest player in the state. Whenever I am scouting a team, I love to ask the players, who their favorite players on the team are. To this day Spring Valley is the only team, where every person I talked with mentioned Martin. A tough defender, who routinely battles larger players, Martin is the heart and soul of a talented Spring Valley squad. He sets the tone for the team with his tenaciousness and effort and displays an unbelievable knack for scoring around the rim.
Issiah Sem 6’0 PG Las Vegas (#50PHN 2020) – Sem is the epitome of actions speaking louder than words. Not much of a ra ra guy, Sem prefers to let his play do the talking. He’s a knockdown shooter that is efficient in catch and shoot action. He is dominant in the classroom as well, rocking a 4.2 GPA.
