While it may make it a little more difficult for this writer, it’s fun to see old faces in new places. In this article, PH takes a look at some of the impact transfers in Nevada this season. This list only includes players that played in state one year and transferred to an in-state school.
Anthony Swift 6’6 SF 2021 |Durango| to |Desert Pines| (#5PHN 2021) – Technically Swift isn’t a transfer as he sat out all of last season at DP. However, he wasn’t on the court to make an impact. He has an opportunity to be a game-changing player for a championship contender. He is an elite rebounder and rim protector that changes the entire landscape of the season.
Drake Booker 6’2 PG 2021 |Durango| to |Foothill| (#15PHN 2021) – Booker has found himself in a terrific situation. He has a chance to be the primary option for Foothill this season. He’s an explosive PG that can get into the lane and do damage. He plays alongside Travis Thomas who is a lethal shooter, so that should help space the floor for Booker’s drives.
Dontrell Johnson 6’4 SF 2022 |Bishop Gorman| to |Bonanza| – Johnson is going to be counted on a lot this season. Bonanza is starting over under 1st-year coach Keven Soares and Johnson’s rebounding and interior ability will be key to jump starting the rebuild. He’s fabulous off dribble drives and relentlessly attacks the rim. Going forward, Johnson is an excellent building block for the Bonanza program.
Aaron Price 6’5 PF 2022 |Coronado| to |Liberty| – If he is eligible, Price should have a huge impact for a Liberty team with championship aspirations. He provides size, rebounding and athleticism. His best attribute may be that he provides depth. Very few teams in the state will be able to bring a player of his length and athletic ability off the bench.
Isaiah Belch 6’3 SF 2022 |Basic| – |Foothill| – Many people may not know about Belch, but he has a chance to make a major impact for Foothill this year. The Falcons lost the majority of their scoring from last season, and coach DeSantis is looking for players to step up. Belch is the perfect fit. The 6’3 wing provides some outside shooting and perimeter defense. He also provides experience as he played a ton of Varsity minutes for Basic last year.
