Jalen Speer (The Rock): Fresh off signing his letter-of-intent to play for FAMU, the 2020 guard lit up West Oaks for 26 points, doing it from outside the arc, as well as within the paint as he hit his floaters. It seems like any centimeter space that you give him, he’s willing to take the shot, and MAKE the shot. Without question, Speer will be The Rock’s top shooter, this year.
Selton Miguel (West Oaks): This guy is a bonafide stat-stuffer who plays with a boulder, not a chip, on his shoulder. He can step out and hit the trey, but also grind you down into the paint and finish tough at the rim. The 2020 G/F walked off the court with 22 points, three boards, five assists, and four steals, on Tuesday. Kansas State is getting an absolute dog.
Kyle Duke (The Rock): This 2021 guard is a starter that people seem to sleep on. He offered 17 points in the win, along with a crucial stretch in the final nine minutes of the game where he seemed to make the all the right plays at the right times. On defense, he posed a threat in the passing gaps as he was able to shoot through and collect steals. Look out for this guy, over time.
Aderes Staton (West Oaks): This is another 2020 guard who has the the power to shut the gym down with his shooting ability. Staton helped keep the Oaks close as the game wained, hitting deep treys from the wing and corner. He finished with 19 points. On the rebounding glass, he’s the clear leader for his team. He notched 10 boards to go alongside three assists. Staton will definitely be an asset for the entire season.
Lenzy Hancock Jr. (The Rock): Knowing that I’ve seen him play over the last four years, it’s great to see L.J. become more of what a lot of people have imagined him as a player. He’s proving that he can step out and hit the trey, while also being a force on the defensive end—using his length and size to help trap ball-handlers and force steals. He finished with 13 on the night. The Rock will need his energy, going forth.
A.J. Neal (West Oaks): Neal showed his toughness throughout the game, taking some solid hits on the way to a 13-point outing. He knows how to use the floater to his advantage, and did it well as the D would collapse on the drive. The 2021 point guard also finished with two rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block. No doubt that he will continue to lead his team in a positive way.
