Schaumburg led most of the game, but Geneva made it interesting late. In the end Schaumburg got the narrow 47-45 victory. Let’s dive into our Most Intriguing Prospects: Schaumburg vs Geneva.
Chris Hodges (Schaumburg)
We start off with the best prospect on the floor. It was a slow start for the Wisconsin Badgers 2021 commit. The top 5 junior had defenders drapped all over him in the zone Geneva packed in not letting him have room to work. In the second half though he came out dominant! Hodges has an excellent right handed hook shot which he used several times for scores. Also played physical through traffic in the paint for a jam and another and-1. Even stepped out to hit a three from the top of the key. Finished with 17 points. Would have liked to see him rebound at a little higher of a rate.
Vaurice Patterson (Schaumburg)
Patterson is a sophomore point guard that made an impact on this game in a number of ways. As a scorer he connected on a three and displayed a burst with the ball in his hands when getting out in the open court. Overall has a nice feel for the game for a young guard.
Armen Torosian (Schaumburg)
Torosian came off the bench to provide a spark for Schaumburg. Hit a three from the corner along with a mid-range jumper. Also got loose in transition on his way to 9 points.
Joseph Sturino (Schaumburg)
Another player that came off the bench to provide production! This kid can really shoot the basketball as he connected on three first half triples. Shoots it with a lot of confidence when it leaves his hand. He had 9 points.
Dylan Fuzak (Geneva)
At 6’9” Fuzak has the strength and mobility which made his older brothers intriguing as prospects. Physical rebounder in the paint including a couple of strong put backs. Overall a quality rebounder. Has some face up ability as he knocked down a three. Should develop into a quality post defender in the 2021 class. He had 8 points.
Josh Preston (Geneva)
This senior is committed to the University of Chicago. He is a versatile forward with a nice combination of strength, athleticism, and skill. What I really like about him is how he moves away from the ball catching passes while moving to the hoop for scores. Solid passer and will be an outstanding glue guy at the next level. Went for 7 points.
Nathan Valentine (Geneva)
Valentine is a 5’11” junior point guard that was most notable in this game as a shooter. Hit a pair of threes for his 6 points.
Christopher Suger (Geneva)
This 2022 6’5” forward only scored three points, but we came away liking what his potential could be long term. Projectable frame with long arms. Drilled a smooth three pointer off the catch. One to track.
Nathan Hilkemann (Geneva)
Hilkemann is a 6’2” senior that came off the bench to provide some scoring punch. He started off with a sweet give and go finish. Also hit a three. Scrappy kid that is a solid role player for this squad.
