They kept fighting on their home floor every possession to get it closer until they finally got the lead on a steal followed by an and-1 by Andrew Latino. They closed the deal in the last minute winning 69-65. Check out our Most Intriguing Prospects: Rockford Boylan vs Peoria Richwoods!
Anthony Brown (Rockford Boylan – 2020)
Brown was an absolute force! He completely took over the game in stretches. The 6’4” big bodied forward might not fit a true position, but he was the best player on the floor in this game and it wasn’t close. Brown is light on his feet for his size and handles it very well. Over and over again he took it right at the defense off the bounce and finished through them. He is nifty around the hoop with a soft touch and feel for scoring both through and around traffic. Scored on the block as well posting up with a spin move along with high/low conversions. Good area rebounder that snatched them with both hands. Was a shot blocking presence including the biggest one of the night on a LeBron come from behind block that completely turned the momentum late. He went for 27 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 blocks. D3 and NAIA schools should be making a visit to Rockford Boylan to see this kid ASAP!!!
Zac Farson (Rockford Boylan – 2020)
Farson was the heart of this team. The point guard is a tough and hardnosed guard that is crafty in the lane with runners and scoop shoots. Gets to the foul line, crisp passer, and came up clutch in the fourth quarter. He had 11 points.
Jack Fulling (Rockford Boylan – 2020)
Fulling got to the line a lot and regularly made acrobatic layups in the paint. Another grinder that made plays when it mattered. He had 14 points.
Andrew Latino (Rockford Boylan – 2020)
Latino is a 6’0” point guard that showed he could drain shots from deep off the catch. Also had an impressive move off the bounce that he set up with a jab step before blowing past his defender. The senior had the play of the game on a steal and layup to take the lead in the final minute. Scored 17 points on the night.
Isaiah Donnell (Peoria Richwoods – 2021)
Donnell was a player we were very interested in checking out. The point guard played a solid game. He started off by getting to the rim where he finished with his off hand. Mixed in an array of floaters, runners, and mid-range jumpers. Overall just a smooth game. Not super explosive, but seems to get the job done. Decent passing feel. Went for 10 points before fouling out.
Jamauri Winfrey (Peoria Richwoods – 2022)
Winfrey is a physical forward that projects as a wing long term, but the sophomore plays more of a power role for his high school team. Strong body with a good frame. Big time athlete that wants to defend in your grill and high points rebounds with his big time bounce. The skill level needs to improve long term, but he has time. Got to the line for most of his 7 points.
Willie Anderson (Peoria Richwoods – 2020)
Anderson is a tiny point guard that is quick with the ball and can shoot it a little knocking down a pair of threes on his way to 10 points.
Connor Martin (Peoria Richwoods – 2020)
Martin shined especially early. The point guard is a sound shooter especially from the wings. Also mixed in a runner, scoop shot, and a pair of free throws. He had 12 points.
Josh Reynolds (Peoria Richwoods – 2022)
Reynolds is a name to track long term. Rangy frame with a crafty handle. Hit a three, but also air balled one. Will be interesting to see how he develops down the line.
