Soccer is in it’s state tournament and spring sports will be here before you know it. Here’s a look at some of the best basketball players who also play other sports.
Conner Cooper, Bowling Green – A Junior, Cooper is the starting QB for the Purples and also starts in the back court on the basketball court. With 1,006 passing yards and 11 TDs to go with 127 rushing yards and two TDs on the ground, Conner is a dual threat on the football field and on the court as he can score the ball and plays solid defense.
Camden Williams, Elizabethtown – Williams is the rare three sport star for the Panthers. He has 590 receiving yards with 8 TDs and added 19 tackles on the defensive side of the ball. On the court, he averaged just shy of 18 points per game as a Sophomore and he also stars on the baseball diamond. It remains to be seen which sport Camden will play in college but I’m sure he will have options
Jeremiah Belton, LaRue County – Belton has over 2,000 career rushing yards for the Hawks and has been a varsity starter for the basketball team for the last two seasons. As a Junior, he’s going to be counted on to lead the team on the court and up his scoring averages to help a LaRue team that lost a lot to graduation last season.
Kade Grundy, Somerset – The leading scorer on the basketball team as a Sophomore and one of the top baseball prospects in Kentucky, Grundy hit .456 last season with with 7 HRs and 21 RBIs and was a perfect 17/17 on steal attempts. His future is on the baseball diamond but Kade could absolutely be a scholarship level basketball player if he decided to pursue it.
Caden Veltkamp, South Warren – Starting at QB as a Sophomore,Caden has 927 yards passing with 15 TDs in only 5 games. As a freshman, Veltkamp scored over 8 points per game. He already has D1 scholarship offers as a QB but if he keeps growing, he could be a big time PF prospect in basketball as well.
Aden Nyekan, Barren County – Another 3 sport player, Nyekan is the leading goal scorer for Barren County soccer and doubles as their kicker on Friday nights with the football team. He’s also a high potential forward with great length and athleticism. Western Kentucky recently invited him to their Hilltopper Hysteria for a visit.
